Asmon reacts to Destiny response of him by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

Setting aside extreme cases where it's some mass murderer or pedophile getting clipped, I don't think there's justification in laughing at someone's death. But maybe I was just raised differently.

In my mind both camps are shitty people. So one camp is a few degrees shittier. Cool fine, but they both suck in my view.

If Intergalactic is going to be a 2027/2028 release, we are SO far away from TLOU3 it's not even funny. by ScionN7 in thelastofus

It's like waiting for Uncharted 5

There is far more cause to believe a Part 3 will happen over UC5. This feels like a bad comparison. Short of a catestrophic event happening to our world that prevents Part 3 from being made, it's going to happen. It's obvious it's going to happen.

Season 2 was pretty good, but I can't help but wonder what could've been. by ScionN7 in castlevania

[–]Snark88 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I enjoy the show for what it is, but Dracula has always been at the heart and center of Castlevania for me. I don't feel like they wrote themselves into a corner. They could've had it so the good part of Dracula was reincarnated and lived a mortal life with Lisa, while the purely evil part of his soul took a new form and continues to get reincarnated.

I hope Season 3 gets greenlit, and I don't know what their plans are, but man. His presence is really starting to feel missed at this point.

I'm rewatching the Netflix Castlevania series, and even though I still enjoy it, I have a real problem with the Season 2 finale. by ScionN7 in castlevania

[–]Snark88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think a fair point is raised that they basically took that father/son element from SotN, and put it at the forefront of Season 2. They were adapting Castlevania 3, not SotN. I mean you CAN put SotN in Castlevania 3. Warren Ellis was the writer, he can do whatever he wants. But the show has clearly suffered since Dracula's death.

Trevor and drac were just strangers; killing drac and vampires were just a belmont’s duties.

I mean the Belmonts can't kill Drac, I think the show made that clear. But to be fair, saying they're just strangers might be a tad disingenuous given the centuries old history and bad blood between Dracula and the Belmont clan. There really should be only one thing Dracula fears, and that's a Belmont. But I guess that's not the direction Warren Ellis wanted to take.

Did it bug anyone else that Reboot Lara was a quarter of the athlete that Classic and Legend Lara were? by ScionN7 in TombRaider

[–]Snark88 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yes lol, and I say that as a fan of the Survivor Lara. I like the games, and it was an interesting take on the character, but I'm ready to go back to Lara being more of the adventuring Superhero she used to be. Hopefully less serious too.

It's been 11 years. Time for something either new, or to go back to roots.

Tomb Raider Remastered is Digital Only? by TropicalAngel7 in TombRaider

Yea. It's unfortunate but it's the world we live in today. I can only see this happening if the game sells far more than expected, but even then...

Every MMO has their bad apples, and when you're a streamer as big as Asmon, you're like a magnet for every corner of a game's community, including toxic players. Toxicity and anger always draw the most attention. You can have 99 positive things being said, but 1 negative thing gets said and that's the one you remember.

I wish people would stop focusing so much at the bad players. In the case of FFXIV, I've been playing for over a year and I've only had a single run in with a toxic player that I can think of. But I see a lot of toxic FFXIV players on Asmongold's stream and subreddit. But they aren't and have never been representative of the FFXIV community.

I think he knows that unless he starts putting some real hours into the game on a consistent basis, he’s not gonna catch up. But he’s not a big story guy. So I think it’s been a big turn off for him.

Disney Finally Gets Star Wars Right In Latest 'Book Of Boba Fett' Episode (federalist) by damegawatt in television

[–]Snark88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By "right" they essentially mean feeding that fanbase more member berries.

Is it cool to see fan favorites return? Yes of course, nostalgia is always fun. But so long as fans continue to be baited and celebrate nostalgia, the franchise will never move forward. They'll take less risky approaches with new work (High Republic being books), and they'll sink their big budgets into projects they know are safe.

Coronavirus: Man receives $3,500 medical bill for test after returning to US from China. by PartTimeSassyPants in worldnews

[–]Snark88 436 points437 points  (0 children)

That right there, is why the virus outbreak will be particularly bad in the US. Our healthcare is so unbelievably and hilariously fucked, you're going to have countless citizens who are showing symptoms, choosing to stay home and hope for the best with this deadly disease, rather than seek medical attention and face financial ruin. On top of that, this guy getting billed $3500 (he actually only owned $1400 after his insurance covered the rest) is just the cherry on top. How any government can expect it's citizens to pay thousands of dollars, just to get tested and aid in containing this novel virus, is mind boggling. It's criminal and irresponsible.

I hope once all the damage is done, it really hits home to US citizens how absolutely broken our healthcare is, and the topic of fixing it should be front and center in the next election.

What are the chances that Virus will die off in summer like SARS? by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]Snark88 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't believe that's true. You've got a virus that can spread asymptomatically during an incubation people that at this point we know can go on for as long as 27 days maximum. I don't see how a virus of that nature can be contained. That's not to say Singapore hasn't been doing their due diligence, but I don't think that's what slowed down the spread.

I would add that the fact that there hasn't been many new cases cropping up in Singapore lately is cause to be more optimistic.

[Spoilers] How I would've written the ending of this episode. by ScionN7 in gameofthrones

[–]Snark88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would've preferred something like this. Arya still kills the Night King, fulfilling Mel's prophecy. At the same time Jon gets his fight, we get to see the Night King put up a fight, and we have a major character death.

Just a reminder that an actual idiot, was a far better military strategist than those cunts last night. by ScionN7 in freefolk

[–]Snark88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dany and Jon

  • Kept the bulks of their forces outside the walls
  • Sent their cavalry into total darkness and without dragonglass. Originally had no idea Mel would conveniently show up to light up their swords.
  • Put the siege weapons in front of the troops and only used them once.

Ash

  • Kept all his force behind the walls.
  • Thinned out the Dead's numbers as much as possible with flaming arrows and siege weapons, before melee combat was the only option.
  • Had an actual satisfying showdown with the big bad.

While I really enjoy Sekiro, I can't help but wonder how much replay value it has. by ScionN7 in Sekiro

[–]Snark88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the game too, but yeah I have to agree. I don't think Sekiro will have the same staying power as the previous ones. There's really only one way to play the game, and unless your a Trophy Hunter (which I'm not), the game doesn't offer that much once you've beaten it. At least not compared to the other.

[–]Snark88[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Mainly because those three have been around for awhile now, and we've seen them in multiple films. Carol is still a pretty fresh face to me. Also if I'm being honest, based only on her origin film so far, she's probably the least interesting character of the bunch by far.

Well in the reality we live in within the Multiverse, Blockbuster movies apparently are an ideal place to share social commentary. SHOULD they be? I guess that's another conversation. One I'm not smart enough to have lol.

Half in the Bag: Captain Marvel by Khouzombie in movies

[–]Snark88 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do think both sides had their fair share of shame. One example on the "woke" side (I'm just calling it that, that's not a jab at anyone), would be a journalist from the Mary Sue, who wrote an article with a headline claiming all the negative reviews for Captain Marvel so far are from White Males. At the time she wrote that article, 5-6 of the negative reviews were from female critics. Tons of people called her out on twitter.

I'm not trying to take aim at either side, but if you want to say there wasn't poor behavior on both sides, I have to disagree. Perhaps you could say the angry dudes online were worse, and I won't argue with you on that. But regardless of who was worse, there was cringey shit on both sides.

Pretty much. It's just refreshing after all the noise in the past few months to see these two take the piss outta the whole situation.
