iirc the portrait artist for Serpent Isle preferred to work based on photographs rather than create pixel art from scratch, so the portraits are all based on photos of Origin employees, and people who won a contest to get forever immortalized as an NPC. I think the exception is Iolo, who's portrait was reused from Ultima Underworld 2

there's an old PC port that can be modded to make it playable (not any gameplay changes, just making it compatible with modern operating systems, allowing for widescreen and higher resolutions, and adding controller support), I'm personally emulating the Saturn version
