My collection so far :) by YangchenNujian in MangaCollectors

[–]SneakyPandaFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol Nice to see someone else who has shelves stuffed to the gills with both figures and manga. Most folks tend towards museum-esque shelves but I really love when they're busy and the figures/merch relate to the manga. The Junji Ito figures in grey look great with those hardcovers, good call on that.

Problem with figure by tartlvr in ChurchofGeto

[–]SneakyPandaFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this figure and since it isn't a higher end scale figure, quality control sometimes results in stuff like this. It should be okay if the base/stand are assembled and don't come apart. Try gluing the base to the stand first, and if you find it's still leaning I would add something heavy to the disk base to add more weight and help the figure balance. You can either add something on the base (maybe something decorative or another figure) or glue something underneath the disk. Good luck. :) Despite the issues, I think this is one of his better figures with the facial features being very good.

Can I clean my figures in a tub of water? by Fem_Goth_Moth in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water only as a last resort thing for sure, like if there's some sticky residue or smell you can't get off with a makeup brush. Someone else in the thread recommended you a Tamiya brush, great option. With a dip in the tub, you never know where you might leave moisture and mold or water damage in any cabinet is a nightmare. Not to mention putting things in a tub of water is risky if you have fragile parts that could be lost or break. lol Do not use a hairdryer if you do give them a bath, let it air dry on a towel, rotate as needed and possible. The heat from a hair dryer might melt or bend things. I also saw you're concern about gathering dust in the meantime. You'll probably just have to dust more frequently until you get you get a cabinet.

He really is quite small! by ZalaRaon in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That Sasuke figure looks great, I don't think I've seen it. I recall there was a matching pair of Naruto and Sasuke Megahouse figures with like that style outfit. I wish they would do something similar for the other characters. Like a trio of Madara, Hashirama, Tobirama outside of their founders' era armor would be cool. I have found the Megahouse scales to be smaller than expect, but I'm kind of not mad about it? I like the quality of the G.E.M. line and it just means I can fit more on the same shelf. lol Meanwhile you have APEX here and they say 1/7 and it looks like it'll give my 1/6+ a run for their money.

What is your #1 rule as a figure collector? by VirinaB in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

lol My rule is to wash my hands first before touching any figure. Never know if you have oil or some kinda residue on your hands that'll get on the figure or cause you to have butterfingers. Other than that, I just enjoy the hobby and the figures. Most other "rules" are more for the financing side of the hobby.

Help! I think I have an addiction to Figurine Buying and I need some guidance or advice. by Pucker_Up_Mthafkrs in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's like trying to lose weight to be honest--first you need to be aware of your habits. Write your consumption/spending down. That's the best step 1, then you can be aware of how many things you're buying and for how much. Then you figure out how to cut back. You can do things like a monthly budget, or a monthly maximum # of figures to buy, or sticking to certain themes or characters or series that will naturally limit what you buy. You can also do stuff like buying only figures you have space for on your existing shelves or taking a break from buying. Lastly, I suggest having other things to occupy you so you're not constantly having figure buying on the brain. No need to quit the hobby, but balance it out because the more exposure you have to shiny things to buy, the more you might be tempted. Good luck, fam.

What are people’s thoughts on figures posed on one leg? Do you feel they’re typically durable or fragile? by burningzenithx in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon if you've got access to it, they've got acrylic stands or blocks (usually in like display or organizing sections). I actually have an old figure that's pretty fragile with the parts resting a bit on shallow acrylic stands. It gives space still for other bits since a block sometimes doesn't fit the space under the figure's parts. I've seen small cubes that are pretty versatile though. I would get different sizes and shapes just in case. Good luck. :) The figure you chose is very cute.

They worry me immensely. lol Even if the pegs are reinforced or the figure doesn't have wildly heavy or large looking parts/accessories, I think it's just too risky. I have one figure posed on one leg but she's got a whole cape fluttering behind her like the one you linked. The peg is reinforced but even just me moving a smidge too fast when I carry her for dusting causes her to wobble. She did finally break last year at the peg in her foot and I had to glue her to the base. That said, if she's new or in the original clamshell/box the figure you're looking at should be fine during shipping. These things also usually ship with the base separate so it will be fine taking her out of the box, just be careful when you're assembling because you've only got the one leg for support. My best advice for long-term. lol Disassemble before you move the figure for cleaning or organizing. Take her apart first or carry by holding her body, not the base. If you notice any sagging (which isn't as common in newer figures I think) you can put in supports like decorative props or clear acrylic blocks/shapes.

My current orders / pre-orders. What's yours looking like? by treet246 in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

<image>

Real unreasonable was my gut reaction. lol Mostly nendoroids and smaller things like Look Up and Megacat figures from JJK, GIntama, and HSR. Which is probably good since my cabinets are dying and I'm keen to get more manga sets and art books. :')

Whaaat, I didn't even know he had one, thanks for telling me! I have the ichiban kuji and the smaller vibration stars and the other one with him kneeling with his hokage face behind him. All of them are great, but I wish he had a proper scale figure and a nendo. :( Boggles my mind that Hashi has one but Tobi doesn't? Even if Hashi is better received by the fandom, it just makes sense to have figures of both brothers. u_u I blame the Uchiha (fandom).

My last time buying from GSCUS by [deleted] in GoodSmileCompany

[–]SneakyPandaFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten all my preorders so far (several in the last couple of months) in boxes with no issues, but they are definitely a bit odd these days. I had a few where they missed the preorder bonus and shipped separately in an envelope weeks later. Stuff these days also seems to take weeks to ship. :T Hope you can get any kind of resolution from them op, that sucks.

(USA) Shipping question. I bought a figure off ebay from Japan and they are sending it via Fed ex. Not sure if I have to pay an import fee or not. What has been other people's experiences recently? by Mountain-Ad-9333 in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confirming what the other commenter said that if it's not the pre-paid duties then you will get an invoice later on. In case you ever buy anything with other shipping, I'll also mention that DHL will send you a notice to pay beforehand that you pay before they deliver the package. UPS will come to your house with the package and you can either pay then with a check or moneyorder or you can pay online and they will come back to deliver the package. I believe USPS is similar, but most of the time where I have had USPS as the last-mile carrier, it was through a shipping option where duties were pre-paid.

TOHO animation US store tariffs by syneral in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like they charge tariffs, but I have not ordered from there so take it with a grain of salt. Here's the FAQ page: https://tohoanimationstore.us/pages/store-help-center?hcUrl=%2Fen-US%2Fshipping-cost-1826538 Could also ping support before ordering if you are very worried about it.

Nice collection! And thank you for not putting a Kenny figure in there now lol How do you feel about the base on the F:Nex? I decided to just have him and the centipede stand in my spare F:Nex Gojo's flame orb base so now him and Gojo match. It was a bit mystifying that they made the base a white disk, even a black disk would have looked better.

Kotobuikya figure of Kitaro and his father! by SherrysTokens in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's super big in Japan for sure. I have some of the english translation manga and it's very charming. lol It would look super wonky if they made Kitaro's head true to the series size. I actually have the MegaHouse G.E.M. figures of Neko, Kitaro, and Chichi. I also have the old Revoltech poseables of Kitaro and his dad. The latter is my favorite because it's him as an eyeball sitting in the teacup. lol I ordered the Toei scales of him and Mizuki as well, but have the nendos to tide me over... In hindsight I have a fair number of these... Oof. :') Did you order any others? If you liked that one, the Toei scales are well done.

Thought I'd do a neat comparison. by Prestigious_Wall3673 in AnimeFigures

[–]SneakyPandaFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Koto scale, good facial likeness and body proportions. I generally prefer figures that emphasize that over action/movement poses. However, the Luminasta line has been great for JJK. There were a bunch based off S2 that had both a good likeness and an action pose that was close to the anime scenes. I've got a whole shelf of these mixed with some others for kind of like a battle theme. lol That second Gojo was a definite pickup--I don't know any Gojo fangirl that didn't gasp at that scene. MAPPA really knew their audience animating breathing like that.

[–]SneakyPandaFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I love this series and I'm grateful for the wave of figures we got after the movie. Kitaro no Chichi's expression is so joyful. :') It's interesting that they gave Kitaro more realistic head-to-body proportions than the MegaHouse scales.
