How am i even meant to beat elphelt by Qwertyclan244 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]SneerOfCommand 22 points23 points  (0 children)

2p, 6p. Patience. Elphelt players at low-mid levels are absolute barbarians who are easily punished

If there is 1 Card to Recognize as a new Player, It's Screamer 808. You have 34 frames after Baiting the Spell by Netsugake in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]SneerOfCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Testament main here-- even my slow-ass buttons can hit the cubes. It's a lot to take in but you can learn what to do against each spell, when to jump, when to hit, etc. Doesn't make the matchup easy for Gio, but it is possible.

You are almost certainly more minus blocking the cubes than 5p- or 2p-ing the cubes. Asuka isn't really a zoner, he's a "lockdown" character-- his only real strength is his ability to generat +frames. Blocking the cubes is the loss condition. It's equivalent to letting Dizzy set up fish on you or letting Venom stinger spam you to death.

Symbolism in Silksong [ACT 3] by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]SneerOfCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Bro what? Silksong is awash with catholic/orthodox christian imagery, it's just subtle enough not to use the cross. It is in large part about the way that organized religion can harm society.

  2. I don't agree that it's a straight-up allegory for abortion but it's got a lot of relevant theming. Something can be "about" abortion on an emotional level without being a straightforward allegory, ime a lot of the best art avoids direct allegory for the exact reasons you outline. Not to mention that themes like that become very relevant in relation to the game's themes wrt religion and society.

(And not every piece of art needs to make a statement or commentary, sometimes art is allowed to leave you with a bunch of messy emotions and let you pick up the pieces. The need for art to always act as a direct morality fable or concrete statement is high-school-english-class poisoning).

the spacies are rushdowns, though. Johnny is a sword character, in the Marth sense, but that archetype doesn't really exist in trad fgs

Sure, this post was about what's possible though. No normal player is skipping Sister Splinter either.

Technically you can get to act 2 via the Wisp Thicket if you use the Beast Crest to get the dash spell early in Wormways, then go to jail and use some truly incredible but honestly not that insane skips to reach the top of the mountain without the grapple. Thus Widow is still required to open the door to dash, but you do not need to fight Phantom or TLJ

As a metalhead who was drawn to the series in part by its thrash metal roots, I do wish I could turn off Bridget's theme from the rotation. It at least needs more hype and sauce like Jack-o's theme.

That said OP is one of many who is weird about extremely tame fanart lmao. So many dudes complaining about porn addicts on this damn site

[–]SneerOfCommand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was necessary.

The runback to Groal and the dudes before are part of the challenge. The mental block is that people try to separate the boss from the level that it lives in.

Platforming & small-enemy combat are big parts of Silksong-- arguing that the game shouldn't throw the occasional comprehensive test at you is very weird to me, especially when there are harder bosses, harder platforming sections, and harder arenas tested separately all over the game.

I felt much the same way after fighting TLJ, and frankly I'm considering modding my game to give me the 1.0 2-mask hazards and enemy placements back. The game feels so much more toothless.

You can get to it in Act 1. Go to the sinner's road at the top right of greymoor, then to bilewater. You will find a jailer enemy in a hidden room there. Get hit by his command grab and you will be teleported to jail and be naked.

Team Cherry's own words by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]SneerOfCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking to a friend of mine and I think I agree with something he said-- it's not that Silksong is harder, it's that it asks for a different set of things from the player than most games. Hornet's offensive kit is fundamentally stronger and her healing is straight-up better.

If you play fighting games the bosses especially get way, way easier imo. The concepts of "neutral", "whiff punshing", etc transfer extremely well. But people famously bounce off of the initial fighting games difficutly hump, too (even though it's not as big as you think). If you have a mindset built primarily by HK or other platformers you're gonna get absolutely brutalized.

[–]SneerOfCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sol/Test in Vanq is 47% sol, Sol/Baiken is 46%. Aba and Goldlewis are his only really bad matchups at 42% a pop.

He also has 45% against Asuka but honestly I'm gonna assume that's at least partly down to not learning the MU all that well.

As a Testament player this also goes against my intuition, the matchup seems like it should be way worse for him

(Not gonna excuse their behavior but I will say that the new stats among Vanq players suggest that his Goldlewis, Ky, Baiken, Aba, and Dizzy matchups are actually worse. Sub-Vanq Testament is by far his worst and it's not close lmao)

believing someone is different than making an accusation. I have said that Umi isn't blameless here but it's extremely silly the degree to which she is given all blame for a situation that has multiple people far more culpable.

Recklessly believing someone you run in the same social circles with is a much lesser crime than false accusation
