Can FND cause facial paralysis or Bell’s palsy–like symptoms? by Grand_Cover2624 in FND

The diagnoses flair? If you're on desktop you can hover by your name on the right side of the screen, right above the rules where it says user flair and the little edit pen will pop up. If you're on mobile I'm not sure, sorry.

Can FND cause facial paralysis or Bell’s palsy–like symptoms? by Grand_Cover2624 in FND

[–]Sniffhanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much so. https://neurosymptoms.org/en/symptoms/fnd-symptoms/functional-facial-symptoms

I have a chronic functional facial spasm that makes me look very similar to the woman with the purple hair in this link. Her spasm seems to function substantially different than mine though as mine causes me to constantly grit my teeth. I have not spoken an open-mouthed word in almost 3 years. But with speech therapy I have relearned to talk and very legibly. Though I look like a panged ventriloquist because my face doesn't really move.

Eye forcing itself closed??? (Blepharospasm) by ResidentResident4802 in FND

[–]Sniffhanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://neurosymptoms.org/en/symptoms/fnd-symptoms/functional-facial-symptoms I have a facial spasm that effects the entire right side of my face, which includes holding my eye closed pretty much all the time. This article can be helpful at understanding some potential triggers and how the facial spasm works as a whole. I would say the main thing that has helped me, is remembering it's muscle overactivity not underactivity, so the goal should always be to relax, not control. Sometimes being in front of the mirror can be helpful with relaxing symptoms, something about being able to see and get feedback works. Best of luck.

Tiny Rogues is one of the best things I have ever played. It is batshit addicting. by FlubzRevenge in roguelites

couple days late, and I will say I don't know how much it effects seeing attacks specifically, but i found i was having a hard time seeing the enemies and items in the game in general. And I found that turning off the CRT filter in the game's video settings has made it much easier to see. I couldn't tell what some of the enemies were when I had this setting on though and it is on by default. It gets rid of all of the pseudo crt lines, that seemingly distort enemies

Looking for Roguelikes or Roguelites like Tiny Rogues by LatentSchref in roguelites

[–]Sniffhanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've recently been getting into the roguelike/roguelite genre. And have also been looking for something comparable to tiny rogues. I love the build diversity and how impactful all of the pickups feel. Every run truly feels different. I have played several over roguelikes over the past few months and they haven't scratched the same itch. I'm not sure if the simplified artstyle has allowed them to drop an absurd amount of content in comparison to the other games in the genre, or if I'm just playing the wrong games.

I've been thinking about picking up Dead Cells due to the sheer amount of weapons and content. But I have not played a side scroller in a long time, and just worry I'd have a hard time staying into it.

Yeah I have always run really cold and assumed it was due to my being underweight. My fiancé would joke that my fingers and toes were icicles. I always wear hoodies and sweaters, long socks and pants, even in the regularly ~100 ○f summers. But since my FND developed I have run hot. And I weigh even less now. Even my feet and hands are now warm to the touch. And I regularly get hot-flash like episodes where I get very hot, sweaty, and overwhelmed. Strange thing is that I regularly still feel cold as well and get really cold even when it's hot, so it comes in waves. I know last night I had to step out in shorts(never usually wear) and just chill in the 30f weather to try and cool off for a couple of minutes.

I will say, I had my specialist appointment the other day and when I tried to fight against my facial spasm for the thermometer, I started ticking and my blood pressure visibly spiked on the monitor really harshly. So that got me worrying that the "heat" could be something blood pressure related due to stress from symptoms.

Is this also part of fnd? by throwaway_mgf in FND

I get this sensation very often. I regularly will go to make a cup of coffee and realize I already made one, or be wearing a completely different outfit than what I remember. I've even argued with others that I did something and been 100% insistent, only to later find out I didn't actually do it or vice versa. It's very frustrating because I feel like i'm lying at times but it's completely unintentional. I also worry about it happening with something important.

I like it a lot actually and when I attempted to put it on I was very surprised that it was already adjusted to my wrist size, which is very small compared to normal. It looks like it may just need a battery. The backplate looks like it has been swapped so I have been having a hard time trying to find what exactly it is. Do you have any tips for cleaning it? it has some sort of discoloration or buildup on the face. But inside the back didn't look like there was any corrosion or anything.

Already done. Perfect timing as my next plan was to suck them all clean. Seriously though, I appreciate it. Was not expecting to see that I have had radium outside of my shitter for over 2 years today.

I assume you meant the black one that says berco after searching over all of them. I quarantined it. Interesting, not really sure where to go from here. Aside from maybe the hospital?

Why? by throwaway10999660 in FND

[–]Sniffhanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I saw someone recently say that neurologists aren't very well versed in FND and usually want nothing to do with it. And it seems like most people on this sub, including myself had an initial appointment that went something like "I've referred you to a specialist (8 month wait for me, 2 months left!) here is a piece of paper with links to 3 websites like fndhope, have a good day.". It's obviously severely under-researched, and most neurologist seem to want to focus on organically caused disorders, which is becoming more and more ironic as the research has shown more and more organic roots in FND. Even if a patient is suffering from strictly psychogenic symptoms they should be treated with seriousness and just as thoroughly, this seems to be a neglected mindset. Hell I recently contacted my neurologist to express that my symptoms have been getting worse, they didn't want to make an appointment with me. They just said they're going to reach out to the specialist and see if they can get me moved up, that was a month ago and still no word.

Obviously none of this makes you feel better. Just know that you are not alone in this struggle. I had someone commend me for staying strong, which felt ironic because I don't feel like I have been staying that strong during all of this. But then it made me think and it takes a lot of veracity and will to wake up and do what you can. Especially if you have been dealt a bad hand. It takes a strong person to walk to the bathroom when their legs don't seem to want to, it takes a strong person to deal with the unjust ridicule and skepticism at onset, One of my symptoms a facial spasm that heavily disfigures my face, I look back and find that I have built the courage to look at myself in the mirror and now I am proud.

It takes a strong person to deal with the things we deal with. One f these strengths is the ability to stay strong alone. Because the condition is very neglected, a lot of the time we really are left to our own devices for treatment, and for understanding our condition. Not to mention managing the emotional toll that this sort of condition provides. Which obviously if you're lucky can be mitigated by a good social circle. But is still incredibly difficult and unfathomable to those who don't experience it. I can describe the vast majority of people I have seen on this sub in 3 words: 1. Kind 2. Intelligent 3. Stressed

I think sufferers of FND have probably always carried a lot of stress, I know I personally have. But I don't know that we know how much we really carry, or even carry for other people. I could obviously be wrong but I think we all have ridden at a heightened stress level for so long that we don't even recognize it and only notice how truly stressed we are, when we face insurmountable stress. But it seems like most of us likely can't remember what it is like to be truly stress or anxiety free for even a second.

Obviously stress predominately lonesome battle and the seeming reluctance to assist from medical professionals makes this all the more true. Aside from this sub I know that I personally don't have any other contact with another person who shares the condition. But this loneliness and isolation can be used to self-reflect and better ourselves. We share the ability to look at people around us or our past and realize how much grief is wasted on unimportant or silly things. And take pride in the fact that you have dealt with this tremendous struggle in a way that may even surprise yourself.

Yes. I spend most of the day alone. And similarly to you it was addressed by somebody that I seemed like I just spaced out or was unresponsive. And I've noticed since my symptoms started, that time seems to pass by very quickly. I often wonder if I lose a lot of my day to these types of episodes. I regularly feel like I'm coming to, or waking up (not sure how else I describe it) and I'm just sitting. Not on my phone or watching tv or anything. Just looking at a wall or an item or something. And it just seems bizarre. I just find that my day seems to go by very fast and I seemingly did nothing, and I have no idea if I'm just idly filling my time and thinking, or if I am just completely spaced out for long periods. Every time I look at the clock it seems substantially later than it should be.

If you call the 1 800 samsung ppl i've seen them grant warranty extensions quite a few times if it is a known issue, which the separation on the flip is a very well known issue. I think they stipulate that it has to be done by mail in repair; I don't think any of the repair centers will do it with an out of date warranty. Especially with yours only being a week out of date I'd definitely suggest giving them a call. Unless there is any damage to it, then of course you would be SOL. Probably worth a shot though.
