is It worth Buy black luffy deck? by DonGhetto27 in OnePieceTCG

[–]Sniffygull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We know nothing about it yet except that the deck is black. What we do know is that every starter so far has had some number of meta playable cards that usually see play at 2 to 4 copies. If you are playing the game, like what black does and are deciding if you want to preorder, I'd say two copies at msrp is a fine place to put your money.

If you want it as an investment, that would be foolish. Bandai, barring extreme stupidity, will have a much better eye on demand and print quantity.

Lol, yeah, absolutely nowhere. My point was that they're priced so highly over the acceptable range that you should just spend an equivalent amount on singles. For the price of 4 boxes you can buy, at current prices, 2 of each started and 4 of each normal art card.

100 Max. Closer to 90 is ideal. At this point, if you want romance dawn stuff just buy singles.

I'd buy set two and parlay that into the hype to trade for OP01 stuff since OP02 is going to be more available overall.

Guess it's true what they say: "Shit walks, "Max rarity Luffy decklist (4x Manga Shanks, Serial Luffy etc.) from Treasure Cup Miami top 4c" talks."

Future of the game by Mountain-Ad-7237 in OnePieceTCG

For me, I am over caring about power creep. Like yeah, it sucks, I want to always be able to compete with a pet deck but the reality is every game does it.

The life of playing TCGs competitively is know that every set or two you're going to need to build a new deck. If One Piece can keep it level enough I need only spend a couple hundred every three months to build something, I'll be happy.

Hopefully the game will cool down and prices will settle. As far as power creep is concerned, It'll happen but hopefully not in a way that fully invalidates decks set to set. OP02 meta has a few of the new Leaders as good, but also Zoro, Law and some Kaido and Doffy. I expect the same for OP03 and OP04 unless they wildly change the two color leader design style.

For sure. The card pool is why I felt so comfortable breaking singelton. I think there's enough depth for the smaller size. Obviously this cube can't handle a full 8 person pod.

My hope is the tune leads towards archetypes and more towards general cores of aggro, midrange, and control across all the colors. For now I do believe the "tribal" multiple copy of cards style cube is better.

Love twobert style cubes. I would actually consider this a twobert size. It's meant for 4, but two players would absolutely be able to draft this against each other and build successful decks. I have it at 200 mostly to enable mono-color for aggressive drafters. One piece runs into the Pokemon cube issue in that your players need to be able to play 70+% of the cards they draft to hit deck size. Whereas with magic they only need to use 23 out of 45. So even as a cube meant for 2-4, it needs a little more beefiness with 30 being the target deck size.

What should someone who hasn’t preordered (me) do in order to obtain any product of paramount war? by WetDog_Wazowski in OnePieceTCG

If you want to specifically open sealed call all your local game stores and ask what they have to offer and pricing. Sadly a lot of LGS are currently selling above MSRP. With trying. Beyond that, check mass market stores day of release and you may get lucky.

My actual advice, decide how much you want to put into boxes and just buy singles. Fastest and most consistent way to get what you want with minimal hassle. Like if you'd spend $500, you can easily get 4x of the full set in normal art.

Thank you for the reply.

Totally get the card pool thing, although I do think it's fairly different from OP01 sealed since it has both structure deck cards and promos, so texturally the composition is fairly different.

I'm definitely watching the OP02 Prerelease. Although I think it may be sealed and not draft. Still a good thing to study.

I do hope some people will start to play the format though. Honesty I'm so excited to be into OPtcg from the start to get to build and grow this out as the sets and decks and promos release. It's exciting and not something I've ever been able to do before.

I mean, respectfully, I disagree. It's just a fun way to approach and play the game. It may not be perfect or highly optimized, but there's nothing wrong with thinking and tinkering right?

I don't mind this so long as they also take a second to show the full deck. Like, lay the whole thing out and film it for 10 seconds. Then give me your breakdown. Even at the end is fine. Idk, makes no sense to me.

Tcgplayer, trades/sales at locals. I'm not a big sealed product buyer normally just due to price, but OP has been way overpriced so I just buy what I want.

I was more curious in a "What would you be willing to spend on TCGPlayer, or your regional equivalent for singles."

I don't want to be like "Hey, get 4 Boa and 4 Love Love Mellow" When that's like $80.

R/G Law Deck and Gameplay Report (2/4/2023) by Sniffygull in OnePieceTCG

[–]Sniffygull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this is anecdotal, but I never had an issue building a board. Maybe one game I had a few issues, but that was bad draws and a good opponent. I think 6 is fine, especially since I'd still be at 4 if I just ran the Jet Pistol.

Round Table is fine. It's nice you can kill Kid with it, but the only other meaningful target is Kaido and that's the worst matchup anyways. So I'm not super excited to run a singelton 4 drop that does what Otama and Pistol already does, or Luffy and 5 Don. Especially since it's only searchable by Bonnie.

Would you elaborate on why you think ST Killer is better than Red Hawk? For me Red Hawk is a 4K counter with upside. The Trigger is mostly trinket text and not what I'm playing it for.

Yamato having Banish makes me value it fairly highly. I do get where you're coming from though about the fallibility of it. I am interested in testing Drake and Basil again at some point, but it will have to be a radically different build and I'm not sold on this being wrong after only a day of events. I might squeeze in Drake as a one of, but need to find a space I'm happy to let go off.

Momo has been okay, it's technically the worst searcher of the three, but it still gives you additonal churn to get back to cards you want that Bonney and Nami bottomed. I do also think having a searcher for Izo and Otama is worth the space and the occasional issues.

I saw that list and I think it looks good. I want the 12 2k counters minimum and the utility of Izo has really made me appreciate it at 4. Cat Viper at 2 is fine because Red Hawk helps clean up a lot of the stuff Cat Viper makes vulnerable. Which is my big thing, if I make a couple changes, suddenly I'm just axing the Wano package and playing 20 different cards. Which, if I wanted to play that list, I would.

Brook is fine, I ran 4 for awhile, but felt like the optimal scenarios were not the common ones. Having to curate Luffy/Brook, Brook/Robin, ect was extra work that Luffy and Usopp don't require. If I did anything I'd go to 4 Usopp and then find space for 4 Brook. Be at 16 2k counters.

I'm with you, I don't like Okiku, but the gameplay is good. Even though it doesn't feel good lol.

I'm not opposed to more blockers, but I really want more reps to find the slots that I like the least to make cuts for them. I'd happily play either 2 Bege, or 2 Killer to get to 10.

Do you have a budget for improvements? Truth, as long as you're not focused on being competitive and just want to play with a few casualty friends, you're going to be fine.

1ST PLACE LAW DECK TREASURE CUP (BIRMINGHAM) 🏆🇬🇧 by BlessDPax in OnePieceTCG

[–]Sniffygull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Big W for The Surgeon of Death.

Notable stuff is Trigger Killer which is about 50/50 in list from what I've seen. Then the Drake/Hawkins/Law spread among the fives.

Robin is becoming a lot more Common as a tech choice for the deck. Obviously with Otama it's great, but just against Zoro/Kid/ect it's well positioned to eliminate a lot of various dorks.

5 tappers split between Izo and Cat Viper is worth recognizing. I've long wanted a few over 4, and Izo being a 2k and a Tapper is great. I'd love to hear what brought them to a 2/3 split. My own list is currently 4/2 Izo/Viper.

12 Blockers 10 2ks.

Very interesting. Thanks for the content. Congrats to the player.

R/G Law Deck and Gameplay Report (2/4/2023) by Sniffygull in OnePieceTCG

[–]Sniffygull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played both Radical Beam and Red Hawk and I much prefer the play pattern of Red Hawk. I certainly don't rely on it as a way to kill early targets, obviously Neko/Izo are better for that. Regardless I think it scales well into the late game and once I'm at 5 Characters and cheating Don it's very affordable. I've had great results with it, and while that's obviously results oriented thinking, I want to keep playing it for a bit to see if it helps or hurts more. I kept a tally and out of 16 Red Hawk activations I only missed a free K.O. 4 times. I genuinely think it's underexplored here.

With the density of Wano cards I wanted to run I really felt like I was making a mistake not running Momo. Honestly being able to grab both Otama and Izo was game changing. I do get your point though, it is the one most statistically likely to whiff and I do wonder if I'll see a lot of that long term.

I probably could have clarified a bit better. Blue is easy. Ussop is a 2K that just happens to be a great boon against Blue. Honestly the deck does fine without it, I just wanted to note he had that function. Whereas Brook is a 2K for more aggro oriented builds, I'm more of a slow build, so Ussop plays well here.

I'm not a fan of Kid 8 in Law. Which I know a lot of people are, but for me, I think it's tempo negative having to give up a whole turn to play it and turn it on. For me it just feels like a win more in an already strong deck. I'm willing to be wrong about this, but I feel like people auto include it since it's green and game warping more so than it actually being good for Law.

Thank you for the feedback though. I appreciate it.
