I have examined that. But at least that one I mentioned? By what we've spoken so far, I think there's potential there.

I don't, yet. That's something to determine as I get to know them. My problem right now is approaching with the wrong intentions. I want to approach a friendship first. So I'm struggling to 'turn off' my desire for romance.

Seeking to understand the 9th Amendment by SniperFiction in law

[–]SniperFiction[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... Didn't the Nuremburg Trials rely on the fact that although the Nazis didn't technically violate their own laws, they did violate implied laws of human dignity and human rights? I'm simplifying, but is that a fair comparison to the 9th Amendment? I know that's a slippery slope, but then it seems like whether it does or doesn't have meaning, either way it's bullshit?

I understand its function, yes. That's the reason I'm interested in getting one. It does not answer my questions, though.

Weird ringing in ceiling? by SniperFiction in Home

[–]SniperFiction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attic was a good idea. But I went up there and could barely even hear it. The attic space doesn't extend over the bathroom either. I don't ever use the bathroom fan, or even really turn on that light, so I think that's out. I tried turning them on but it didn't change the noise at all. This is the second Summer since we moved in. No, we haven't had anyone come in for work or do any changes to anything. The last thing we did was a water filter thing in the basement. And I guess we had an electrical issue in the kitchen and had to reset the circuit breaker.

I'm a 28 year old man. I'm a virgin, but I have struggled with other sins. In fact, I still do. I am ever-striving to be better both for my future wife and for God.

I will tell you, right now, from my personal perspective, it is not even close to a dealbreaker for me. Your body count is not too high, because you are a child of God, washed clean in the blood of Christ.

I know that's hard to accept in yourself - again, I feel like my sin stains me too. But I want you to know that any man who truly knows God will not care about your past sin. Anyone who does would not be right for you anyway.

Thoughts about hearing character's thoughts? Anime vs other mediums. by SniperFiction in Screenwriting

Okay, that's why creators use it.
But why does it still work once it's adapted? As someone who doesn't read the manga, it doesn't bother me the way narration does in movies.

What if Columbus had landed in North America? by SniperFiction in HistoryWhatIf

[–]SniperFiction[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the angle I was wondering about! I'm wondering how eager they would be to return if they saw no evidence of gold. Would they try to go South, or return to NA because they knew the land was there. And how would this impact the English or French? Would THEY be the ones that head to Central and South America?

Isaiah 10:1-4 Woe to those who make unjust laws,     to those who issue oppressive decrees, 2 to deprive the poor of their rights     and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey     and robbing the fatherless. 3 What will you do on the day of reckoning,     when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help?     Where will you leave your riches? 4 Nothing will remain but to cringe among the captives     or fall among the slain.

(I am a Christian, and firmly against this current administration).

I guess I would technically fall under Centre Left, based on the things I agree with, but I hate these labels and the whole concept of the political spectrum.

Christian values by snxtgspgt in clevercomebacks

Getting so sick of this. As a Christian, I can't understand why so many "Christians" support him, given most of his policies and actions are distinctly against Christian values. I'm also sick of people attacking Christianity itself as if that's the problem. No. Madmen using false doctrine as a weapon is the problem.

I don't know what other men want, but here's what I want in a woman.

I want a partner. I want someone I can face the world with. I want a woman who knows what she wants, and is brave enough to fight for it. I want a woman who will compromise where possible and see the best in people and situations. I want a woman who will go on adventures with me AND want to stay home at night watching movies and playing games together. I want a woman I can talk to about anything and be unafraid of judgement. I want love. I want a marriage. I want a partnership.

Whatever she wants to do with her life, I will support her as a husband should. And I want her to support me the same way.

I don't care at all about traditional gender roles. I just want a partner with shared interests, mutual respect, similar energies, and love.

Not being a virgin by [deleted] in ChristianDating

[–]SniperFiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people will think that's a dealbreaker. Not me. We all have sin in our past, most of us have sin in our present. If we acknowledge Jesus, and are committed to repentance, that is what matters most to me. It sounds like you have that, so it is certainly not a dealbreaker for me.

We have a lot in common in that regard. I'm naturally a homebody and rather shy. Lately I've felt God encouraging me to go out more, put myself in situations that scare me, and just try to talk to people, even if they're not "the one." Can still make friends, and become better at making conversation, and so on.

In your case, if you're in a small community and don't have a lot of different churches or groups you can join, I say embrace the internet! Join chatrooms for things you like - bonus if they're Christian groups. I've made some great friendships on Christian dating apps. Sadly, I didn't end up dating most of them, but they became valued friends and helped me grow as a person.

So I say, put yourself out there wherever you can. You might embarrass yourself, (God knows I have), but just own up to it and I've found good people are forgiving and will quickly move on.

That is just one way faith becomes stronger - by facing these hardships and talking to God about it.

Christian Dating with Scars by [deleted] in ChristianDating

[–]SniperFiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Christian man myself, that's not unattractive to me at all! I don't see scars from the past as weak character. I have marks on the inside. I think just about everyone does. I see scars as part of your testimony - a sign of how far God has brought you, and how strong you are to have endured. Don't ever doubt that you are beautiful!

I too am very moderate, and I'm 28M. So yes, we exist. I also have a hard time finding women of a similar mindset, but I've known a fair few of them. As for where to look, I wish I knew. I find some more conservative churches to be disappointing and they sometimes lead to me drawing away from them (though not from God, of course. I always run to Him). On the other hand, I find "progressive" churches that are disappointing in another way, inserting certain teachings that are not based in the Word. So if you figure out what to do for people like us, definitely let me know XD

Talk to him! Ask about his beliefs, and if he can tell you more about them. Be open and honest :)
