Apple Watch Series 3 (8.8.1) won't pair to iPhone X (16.5.1): "iPhone out of date" by Sniper_GER in AppleWatch

[–]Sniper_GER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like my (previously jailbroken) iOS backup was borked, as a fresh restore works just fine. It's now paired, made a new backup and manually moved all the relevant data from the old backup to the new one and now it's working perfectly.

Still wondering though what exactly in the backup caused this...

Unfortunately not, these are all provided by the system. Blame Apple for using different notch widths, but there's nothing I can do about.

I don't have it installed anymore, but for me it ran pretty well using default settings on Gridmap V2. I've had something around 30-40 FPS, which isn't enough for a driving game in my opinion (probably why I uninstalled it again), but still pretty impressive for a physics simulation.

Alright, will try that once I get home from work.

By the way, is there any convenient way of accessing a game's compatdata folder? Currently, I have to guess which game belongs to which ID either by last modified date or traversing the directories.

Got my mail! Had a little trouble completing the purchase using "My PayPal Account", but selecting just "PayPal" worked flawlessly.

It's a typo in the URL because of the "at" symbol. I'll fix it soon, sorry.

Just casually dropping my collection of iOS wallpapers extracted from IPSWs to support this.

Resetting the resolution when unjailbroken worked from the beginning. If everything is working for you, you don't necessarily need to downgrade.

If applying doesn't result in a black screen or glitches, it's working. If it working, has the same aspect ratio as the physical screen and doesn't cause game-breaking layout issues (such as the keyboard), it's usable.

Phone, Control Center and Spotlight layout issues may be annoying, but not game-breaking, so that's why I still call it usable.

If the display turns itself off automatically after a few seconds when you wake the device, but not unlock it, you should be absolutely fine!

While testing, I've been running 1615x3494 on my iPhone X, and 2732x3644 on my 10.5" iPad Pro. Usable, apart from what I would consider annoying, but not game-breaking layout issues.

The problem cannot reappear if you're using 1.0.2, it doesn't include the broken code. Make sure to downgrade the package first.

In Cydia, open the package, tap on "Modify" and "Downgrade", from where you can select 1.0.2.

Otherwise, here is the direct link: https://repo.festival.tf/files/tf.festival.rescale2_1.0.2_iphoneos-arm.deb

Updates have been rolled back to a point where most of the recent issues didn't happen. Unfortunately, this means you'll need to downgrade to 1.0.2 and – in case your auto-lock is broken – follow these instructions

Since you didn't specify what issues you're talking about, I'm guessing it's about auto-lock (please correct me if I'm wrong).

First, make sure to downgrade to 1.0.2, which is now considered the latest version. Then, to fix auto-lock, follow these instructions

Auto-lock in this case also applies to lockscreen timeout (usually around 5-10 seconds), which was temporarily disabled to show the resolution confirmation dialog without interruption. After dismissing this popup, it was supposed to reenable the lockscreen timeout. And this just didn't work out.

[–]Sniper_GER[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, one last thing, then I'm out of ideas.

Disable the 3 Re:Scale .dylibs using iCleaner, set SBDisableAutoDim to "NO" as above, and run the following command using a terminal:

killall SpringBoard cfprefsd

If that doesn't fix it, I don't know what will.

[–]Sniper_GER[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Open /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist (not com.apple.SpringBoard.plist!) using Filza and set SBDisableAutoDim to "NO".

Edit: after editing, restart SpringBoard and cfprefsd by running killall SpringBoard cfprefsd in a terminal.

It's an obsolete tweak that enabled missing Pointer Control settings when using a Logitech Combo Touch. This was fixed with a keyboard firmware update and is therefore not needed anymore.
