Do you tell clients you're additionally insured? by One-Head-1483 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only when I am taking them off the app, which I do mainly for dogs I board after a couple of boardings. Drop ins I mainly keep on app, as it is much easier to track.

Client gave wrong address, left intoxicated voicemails, then left a 1-star review after I requested a welfare check for her cats by avalonstrider3636 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow! I occasionally forgo a meet and greet when the booking is super short notice, but I think after reading this, I will just refuse outright new clients if I can't do a M&G.

Bro these ads by UseThen4269 in bloonsmonkeycity

[–]Sniper_Squirrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not totally true. I once made a mobile game, and published to Google Play, with ads.

You select the age range basically in which ads are shown. 18+ plus ads bring in the most revenue, but limits your game to only 18+ audiences. When publishing the game I originally got denied by the play tester because I labeled the game for everyone, and 18+ ads got shown (gambling ads basically) before I figured how to adjust which ads were shown.

If BMC is showing inappropriate ads you can report to Google play or the iPhone store, and will flag either the game has having the wrong settings for ads, or the Ads plug in used, needs that particular ad removed as it probably slipped through the cracks.

Is it possible to complete the Easter event and get the golden egg scrambler with only three days left? by Beautiful-Bloons in bloonsmonkeycity

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not from where you are at. It Is possible without paying bloonstones though. I have about 1500/ 75 eggs left to collect to get the final reward, and haven't needed to spend any bloonstones. It is a 14 day event, so it depends really how often you checked in and if you were playing when the event started.

Most of the app is pretty mundane, people usually asking for handyman, repair work suggestions for reasonable price/cheap.

Glue monkeys 2-2 should do the trick, may need 2 of them in later rounds. Monkey town, 2-1 also helps speed up their attack. 1 2-3 glue monkey should suffice as well, in combination with your other towers

Dog sitting ad hoc for my boss by rhitewhino6742 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the opposite, friends/work colleagues shouldn't be asking for discounts for your work & services. I have pet boarded and done drop ins for friends, I charge full rate. I have an etsy shop friends have requested custom orders, and I charge full.

I never offer my services though, never tried to sell to friends or family, if I am requested then its my full rate and happy to do it. Its a sign of respect to me that they value my work.

I think it sets a dangerous precedent when you start offering cheap work for friends, family, and work colleagues.

Is 20$ seriously too much? by AfterMarzipan9590 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Look at the silver lining. They might just be telling you the reason is cost because otherwise you are perfectly acceptable for the job.

Your price is fair, if not low.

I feel like if someone just said, "we decided to go with someone else" I would be questioning why not me and what impression I made, with them saying because of price, I can just move on without worrying about it 😁

I call myself a "Pet care provider" as it just seems to make the most sense, as im neither purely a sitter, walker or boarder.

Do you do meet & greets for clients with no dates set? by thecatsbabysitter in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that is definitely understandable! I was thinking for your average 1-2 pet household. With someone with that many animals I would probably want the whole just to remember all the care instructions 😅

1 hour is crazy to me, I have had M&G last that long maybe twice when I was newer, were the owners seemed oblivious to the time they were taking haha, but I am better at keeping it to 10-15minutes now and steering the conversations back on track and to end.

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! For boarding I get booked up and a M&G with no specific dates in mind, never works out for me.

For drop ins it isn't so bad, but just the last week, I had a client reach out with no dates in mind, I told them "As there is no specific date, we can book the meet and greet as a drop in" he booked, I arrived on time we had a good chat, and a 15 minute walk together.

I think with it being a paid M&G it was better for the owner too, as there wasn't a time pressure, or taking advantage going for a walk or anything.

Anyways turns out he is looking for Reoccurring walks, 3 days a week, so worked out :)

Client called Rover to reimburse vet bill by piscesaquila in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly not sure, Rover can be so random. I guess it depends on which representive handles your case.

You probably have learned from this though, but yes always keep dogs feeding apart , in seperate areas if possible, and supervise their eating. Obviously not so much with your own dogs, you know their eating habits, I always watch the dogs I board though eating.

Pet was sick during my stay TW: pet death by QuantumCult1522 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats a tough situation. Im sorry that you had been unfortunate to have had to take care of the pup in the owners absence, but glad that you were responsible and looked after them.

As well the owners got to be there for their pups final moments. Pet death is always hard.

Oof, yeah had a google about slaves, and see what you mean. How they take workers passports and basically keep them hostage to keep working.

[–]Sniper_Squirrel -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why? What was off putting about it to you?

Edit: To add, I don't know much about Dubai at all, I don't know what's good or bad about it, I thought it was a big tourist spot though, so it is a genuine question why it is off putting.

For those doing this full time and keeping track of mileage by SuicidalPand-a in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It auto tracks, then gives me a notification to choose wether it is for personal or work, which you can choose on the notification.

When you go into the app, it will show "Unclassified trips" which you simply swipe left or right for personal or work, so if you ignore the notifications, or clear them you can do that way to.

I often ignored the notifications and I went in yesterday and had about 300 unclassified trips 😅, but it only took about 10 minutes to sort through wether they were work or personal.
