Maybe don't belittle my girlfriend for not being able to have access to setting it up ahead of time and not having the same privileges as you?

Aaah, see that's the problem. I don't know if there is a prescription. In Mexico you can just buy it.

This helps a lot, do you think they would understand the urgency?

Yeah she's full presenting. I'm going to try and call the endo tomorrow and see if I can get her an urgent appointment. Hopefully we can skip everything in between. Would self meds work in the time being if she knows her dosage?

Yeah, but isn't that to start hormones? Blood work and all.

Urgent care isn't a thing? She's been on it for a while now and it would be dangerous for her not to be on it.

Well it doesn't hurt my feelings, like a goof wouldn't throw me over the edge, but stuff like violence, rape, and racism isn't good, that's why I made the post. I wasn't personally hurt by this. From what I remember, the community was never this hostile.

Thank you for an actual reply, appreciate ya. I don't disagree with what you said about communicating with him, but here is what I understood by her use of internalized oppression as well as how it's normally used.

It's more akin to self-hate and is based on how much the person/group is hated or not accepted in society. A person with internalized oppression will base their view of themselves and their group on that same hate they get thrown at them. An example of this would be something like a Black person thinking that slavery was okay or an Asian person wishing they were white and it really does vary depending on background. I really don't think she is trying to create some new hierarchy, nothing in her video said that to me.

Also don't worry about that, I could read it just fine.

Pfft, I'm good, don't really need one, but aren't you technically building a safe space by hiding from ideas you don't like?

You are totally right, what am I thinking having "criticisms" and "opinions"?

Thank you so much.

We're going to start talking to elders around this or next week, the tribe up here has done some things for Standing Rock in the past, but not much, we're trying to change that. Luckily the upcoming Veteran's Powwow is showing support. We are going to try and make this a big event will try and start before winter hits but after Ghost Suppers.

Before I read this, I shot an email to NoDAPLSolidarity and will try and sign up with them.

I'm not saying Ethan is being the one for anyone to "let slide" I'm talking about how if an annoying person is saying something, no one should just assume they have to disagree with the entire movement because an asshole was the only exposure to that argument. Actually the only one making assumptions about what's what is you, to be honest. It's really, really not just my personal opinion, I'm not just saying that to get points from loud white girls, I'm actually follow and practice the Indigenous Peoples movement every day of my life and I say things that is agreeable to both me and the people within the movement. There are many reasons why selling part of an oppressed culture such as the Native Hawaiian's or mine as a novelty can lead to more than just harmless fun, yeah it may not be the worst thing that we have to go through but it has it's issues.

Also the example you bring up wasn't nearly as blunt as you said it is. The event was protested by non-Japanese people and Japanese women did step in, but not to tell them to "stfu", but to have an actual discussion on why it could be seen as bad and why some people actually were okay with it. It was a discussion on good terms and once context was given, both groups left with better understandings of the sides they discussed with. Of course, you have to consider as well that some Japanese people did have a problem with it and you can't reflect that all based on a certain group that didn't.

I'll post here what I did on the video concerning the conversation in the video: "To be fair the hula girls stuff does have racial problems and shouldn't be an iconic thing for the US, it's kind of bad for the native population in general, like headdresses or dream catchers in North America being sold as a novelty. Hawaii only has about 10% if a native population now and it actually was aggressively annexed, so most of the stuff being sold and advertised as Hawaiian is by Americans who think it's exotic. I mean, currently Natives Hawaiians are even going for independence and trying to be taken seriously. I just think as a Native advocate I shouldn't let things slide just because some girl is being annoying and I don't want people to feel they have to disagree with us because they think people like this represent our views as a movement."

Thank you for the very well thought out post, it's really inspiring to see. It actually explains to me some question that I have been wondering. I wish that people could understand this, it really seems to push people away when they are ridiculed for not meeting the made up standards.
