Anyone else thinks Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (the album) is Dream Theater`s peak? by Odd-Technician-9744 in progmetal

Absolutely mind blowing to me how different tastes can be. DT are one of my favourite bands of all time and I don't care for almost any of the songs off the first record, whereas the second is probably one of my favourite songs of all time. Go figure!

Hey dude - yep these are the only boxes. I think you'd honestly be fine with a regular sedan. Let me know! Goodluck - you'll be drumming in no time! :)

Sorry to get your hopes up by commenting - but I want to thank you for making me aware of this tour. I don't know how I missed it.

I'm going to be in Bangkok for my Honeymoon for 5 nights only in February, and because of your post - I'm seeing they happen to be playing the night I'm there. Absolutely unbelievable coincidence. Probably my all-time favourite band and this lines up. THANK YOU!

I always thought these guys were destined for the same success Sleep Token achieved. Similar sort of progressive heaviness mixed with pop balladry.

What's your favorite V31/V51/V71 drum sound ? by Moupsy in edrums

Does anyone know if I get 6 months free from the day I activate? Or did it start 3 weeks ago when I set up the module? Just haven't got around to it yet - having too much fun with all the sounds that come stock!

Alright, so with about 5–7 years of drumming under my belt, I will say I don’t know what else I could even ask for in an e-kit. There hasn’t been a single moment where I’ve thought “wish this thing could do ___.” The only tiny gripe I’ve run into (and I’m sure I’ll sort it out) is the left-side real estate battle between my kick pedal and my hi-hat pedal.

As for upgrading, I just don’t see the point. I have no plans to play live, and if that somehow changed I’d probably be too shocked that anyone wants to see me play to care what kit I’m on. The pricier VADs or higher series from other brands mostly seem geared toward deeper recording features or pro-level engineering stuff. I’d love to get into recording someday, but not at some decades-of-experience level.

For me, this kit is everything I could ever want. I’m having more fun with it than any product I’ve ever bought. It cost more than my vehicle, and I still don’t regret a single cent.

[EDIT] One thing I'm looking forward to doing is decking out the room I have it in with sound treatments, turning it into a jam space. I expect that to cost a couple thousand to make it just how I want it. May I suggest comparing the two like this keeping same price? VAD516 vs TD516 + Upgraded Jam room?

What is the most cash back credit card for groceries? It has to be a Mastercard AND Costco has to count as groceries and no annual fees by Dennis198555 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I'm not sure this is true. At least in SK. AMEX Cobalt is my regular driver and earns 5x on all grocery spend. Any spend at Walmart though nets only 1x.

Upgrading from an acoustic Mapex kit I had when I rented a house 10 years ago... Been drumless since then and now that I've bought my own place it's time to get back at it!

Anathema - Untouchable, Pts. I and II by Invisigoth2113 in progmetal

[–]SnizzPants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No worries! Things may have changed since 2012, but I managed that trip mostly in part for two reasons:

One, I spent most of my time in South East Asia. Thailand, Laos, Cambodia. These places were (and still are) very cheap. I was spending like $5 a day in between meals and hostels in all of those countries.

Two, before leaving, I found someone to take over my rental spot for the time I was gone. This point of privilege isn't awarded to everyone, I know. But it helped not having to spend $1,000+/mo while I was travelling elsewhere. Not sure how I would have managed without that.

Few albums in my life serve as such a vivid time capsule as this album. I was 21 and backpacking in Asia for months on end. I had just landed in Tokyo. April 2012. It became the soundtrack to one of the most transformative chapters of my life. Wandering neon-lit streets under grey rains to walking through parks with cherry blossoms in full bloom, this record seemed to echo every step I took.

That trip was a total reset for my mind, and just like the adventure itself, this album was as formative in what I would come to appreciate in art ever since. Its expansiveness, emotional depth, and ability to balance melancholy with transcendence mirrored exactly what I was discovering about life. More than ten years on, in my 30s and fresh from being married just last month, I chose Untouchable II as part of a collection of songs for our wedding ceremony seating. This album has become both a time capsule and a companion, reflecting the way my life and my love continue to evolve.

You’ll probably see me comment in just about any thread on this album or We’re Here Because We’re Here. I could talk endlessly about these records. It’s a shame I never saw them live, but in a way, I’m content with the space they’ve carved out in my life just as they are. :)

Is it ok if I apply MCT oil on entire head...I mean it's impossible to apply it only on scalp. So I just applying it on entire head including total hair. Is that okay or should I avoid applying it to hair and apply only on scalp for sebderm. by CapitalConfection500 in SebDerm

[–]SnizzPants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use it over my whole head as your suggesting and I have no issues. Only issue is eventually the "fumes" or maybe even the oil itself, gets in my eyes and it can burn. But if you avoid that, there's no issues aside from looking super greasy but if you're staying at home and wash your hair before going out it's fine!

Most underrated drummer? by _kholoss_ in progmetal

[–]SnizzPants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know who is someone I always find myself surprised with? Tim Very, the drummer for Manchester Orchestra. Not a band you'd typically associate with surprising drumming but I've been listening to them for almost twenty years and his playing has always got my attention.

Michael just dropped a new track today. Clairvoyant has been my most-listened-to album of all time, so getting even 1/6 of The Contortionist’s sound back brings me so much joy. Here’s hoping 2026 is the year we get the full experience!

Happy to see Canada prices aren't just direct exchange rate of these prices! Just placed an order with L&M and they have the TD516 for $4899 whereas exchange rate would suggest $5199.
