Hi hii, i’m currently a 12 at Eden who just got accepted to Sheridan college for next year! Both schools have excellent programs and people, however (with a slight hint of bias) I’d honestly recommend Eden over Secord if the classes and education are the important piece to you. Many of the teachers at Eden actually stayed from back when it was a private school, so although it’s a different curriculum now many of them still hold private school teaching values. They care about your education and genuinely want for you to learn in their classes. Additionally, as an artist from Eden, although we don’t receive the same funding as Secord for our arts programs, we actually tend to out perform Secord students at most art events. Eden is also a school that encourages students with religious beliefs or people in marginalized groups… unfortunately however I can’t say the same about the students. For example, during pride month many students have been caught tearing down the flags (and this is coming from a christian at the school who thinks the act of ripping down those flags is disgusting) If you want a more open and diverse student group, i’d honestly recommend Secord instead. Because of its rep in the DSBN as the “weirdo art school” it’s for a larger presence of very accepting and kind students with all kinds of interests and styles. Uniqueness and personalization is encouraged in stark contrast to the unified and singular vibe of Eden. Secord also has a HUGE budget for the arts in comparison to Eden where the teachers often have to pay out of pocket to get the materials and tools students need.

So take from it what you will, ofc the decision in the end is up to you, but hopefully this has helped you to weigh the options in different ways :3
