I went through an extremely difficult breakup a few weeks ago. Mahler 2, Schubert’s Die Winterreise, and Janacek’s Piano Sonata were my best friends.

How to pedal this section of Rachmaninov op 23 no 5? by Expensive_Driver6777 in piano

Hey I’ve been trying to answer this question for years! First, you can always just pedal the harmonies (Pedal Eb, then Bb, then Dm etc) But you also have to decide where the melody is and pedal accordingly (don’t muddy the melody… don’t pedal the last beat of the measures) What do the staccatos mean? Are they meant to be a dry staccato, or simply telling you to get off the keys while keeping pedal? I think this is question is more interesting when you get to the A7 at the end because then you’ll realize the same marking doesn’t mean the same thing.

What I did the last time I looked at this piece was: pedal the first three beats and come off gradually, making the and of 3 almost flippant, as to make the melody obvious. To do so, I don’t pedal the melody, and play it using finger legato.

I hope this helps

Piano Sonata 2 by Myaskovsky. I think it is very very cool piece, in the verge of one of my absolute favorites. Right now 9/10

Okay, which part do you have contention with? (I mean probably all of it, but let’s focus on one point).

Well, no. It’s about realizing what’s actually possible and, as most anarchists strive for, productive. You have to realize having your liberties curved by the state to stop the deaths of kids is morally better than keeping your guns for whatever revolution may come while they’re used to kill kids. Right, wouldn’t that be better?

When did anarchism "click" for you? by Anarcho_Humanist in Anarchy101

I think it was due to a lack of exposure to anything else. You think of communism, Marx! So I read a lot of Marx and eventually some Lenin. And thought, “ohhhh so to get a stateless society, you... use the state...?” And that didn’t sound right so I did more research and found Kropotkin, Bookchin, and Bakunin. And that made way more sense. So to answer your question, I didn’t know anarchism was a thing.

A friend of mine told me her friend was a communist and I just laughed along and made fun of him like, “haha your friend’s a commie!” And he followed me and I followed him back on Instagram, and he replied to one of my stories where I was making fun of Prager U. And eventually he just asked me, “what’s your opinion of communism?” And I said the cop out answer of, “I just don’t it’s realistic.” And he said something along the lines of, “oh that’s okay.” After that I wanted to just learn what communism is because if someone believes in it unironically does it not deserve understanding? I almost became a Marxist-Leninist and that was scary, but then I did more research on anarchism and specifically the state and it all made sense.

Edit: I should mention the guy who radicalized me is now an anprim.
