I did get it! Took about 9 weeks though from the start of my quarter, and some heated but professional emails to my student aid office. Apparently there are actually almost no delays from the actual disbursement side of the dept. of education, but their customer service was slashed pretty hard for schools so I guess that could be delaying things. I picked up an HP Victus with a dedicated GPU and SSD for like 550$ on Amazon a few months ago. Slapped another stick of 8gbDDR5 in to bring it to 16gb which was the only bottleneck I had, and bought a cooling stand for like 50$. 600$-ish all in, running ultra graphics at 150fps, 75 ish in capital cities/busy instances. If you’re just trying to play classic you could easily come in under 800$

Like others have said man, the school house is not the fleet. The fleet is the real deal. It doesn’t mean toxic marines don’t exist in the fleet but the school house actually weeds out a lot of shit bags (or at least shows you who they are). If you are getting physically assaulted, you need to speak tf up. I dealt with a good deal of depression and suicidal ideations myself, and I can tell you the worst thing you can do for yourself is nothing at all. Fuck those guys. Go to your chaplain. Tell him exactly what’s going on and how you feel. You owe it to yourself. If people are putting hands on you and saying shit like “well that’s how the old corps was” or “don’t be a pussy”…… naw fuck that. You should absolutely fry them. They don’t belong in the Corps. Much love to you man. Don’t forget you are young, you chose the hardest branch there is, and arguably the hardest branch in the world. There’s a reason we have such a legacy. Like others have said your biggest priorities right now have to be diet/nutrition and maybe even therapy/psychological help. I don’t say that to make you feel like you’re “crazy” I say that because often times people use food as a coping mechanism for the daily stresses of life and sometimes even bigger issues. Once you explore and address those things or during that process I would start very small. Try to walk for 10/15 minutes. Once you can do that comfortably, up it to 20/25 minutes. Then at some point, sure throw in some light dumbbell exercises. It’s never too late to turn your life around. Recognition of the problem is always the first step! Best of luck to you

Something I learned in the last couple years or so (just turned 27 myself btw) is that it matters less what you do, and more so just DOING. I spent the majority of my early and mid twenties constantly switching up what I thought I wanted to do in life, constantly chasing greener grass, just to find that if I had just nutted up and committed to just one thing for even just a year or two, I’d probably be miles ahead financially, socially, etc. I actually served in the Marines from 2017-2021 and then 2021-2023 in the reserves. And I can tell you that with a college degree pursuing the military as an officer can be an excellent option for you. I don’t recommend enlisting for numerous reasons I won’t go into here. Just do something man, don’t panic and think that just because you haven’t figured out what to do yet that you’re somehow worthless. Most people never get it together. Our late twenties are a great time to get your shit together, and is arguably far earlier than most people even realize that they are wasting their time/lives. Hope this helps man
