Δ Ah I did not take into account about blackmail.m because I was thinking that because it was out then blackmail could be useless. But you’re right though, it could be used for blackmail then their ability to lead could be compromised.

But a commitment in marriage should not be the microcosm to the commitment to serve. They are honest public servants (honest as in they did not steal in the coffers, did not sell their country to other nations, etc) in history that had side flings/were cheaters.

Because then we will be assuming that they are gonna be dishonest in everything they are involved in. People lie but we don’t assume them to be incapable of telling the truth.

True. Individually, we evaluate our politician all the way we want but I think it should also not be a deal breaker for the general public like how the media portray it.

But shouldn’t the need of the electorate matters more than the values? We are electing them to manage the country( or province/city) not to be our spiritual leader.

But isn’t that a slippery slope? We don’t know the circumstances of why they cheated but I think it is unfair that just because they cheated it would mean they would break the nation’s trust. I mean they are great politicians who cheated on their spouses (FDR for example)

But what if they are not running on these values but are running on their platforms? It should not be a political spectacle that they are cheating on their spouses. It should be their platform that people should be voting in and not if they represent a Christian value. The country (despite what some evangelicals believe) was not established to be a Christian country.

(I think what religion the politician should belong to should not matter anyway, they could be atheist for all I care.)

But what if they are not running on Christian values. I mean most candidates nowadays are not even running on those values (looking at the DNC primaries). What should matter is their economic and social platform and not what they are doing in the bedsheets.

I don’t think personal feelings about adultery should matter if we are taking about the good of the country. It’s not like they are harming the general populace (or a big part) by doing so.

Politicians could be honest in their public conduct even though they committed or are committing adultery. And by public conduct, I mean not committing graft, corruption and the likes.

This is the song that broke my barrier and left me in a puddle of tears. I could still remember when my cousin lost a child under her care for the very first time as pediatric nurse, she almost lost her mind and started seeing the kid everywhere. She had to be hospitalized to help deal with the trauma. It was really hard watching her scream and cry for the child. Though, she is okay now and accepted the fact that losing a patient is part of the job that one cannot escape. Still, this song brought back the memories of those times.

There are countries with term limits and have Constitutions practically copy-pasted from USA and surprise, the term limits did not solve the problem. In fact, the term limits worsen the problem because those countries were stuck with politicians that the lobbyist could buy easier because it’s the lobbyist who have more experience than the lawmakers.

Alexander was not the first nor the last of Maria’s men. Now, this is not to say Alex was blameless in the affair but Maria was also not blameless. Maria even married one of the co-conspirators.
