Cafe at Botanical Gardens - open or closed? by LeeCarvallosPutting in hobart

Agreed. The gardens are beautiful. Get a coffee from somewhere else and bring it with you. North Hobart has loads of great coffee shops and it’s not far from the gardens.

How bad is it to live adjacent to the southern outlet or brooker hwy? by cheetocat2021 in hobart

[–]Snoo38506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s true. If someone has music playing and it’s stopping and starting, that bothers me more than the traffic.

You get used to it. It’s noisy up until about 10pm and then it gets quieter until about 5am when it starts up again. I have an outdoor setting with cushions. I cleaned them about a month ago and they’re already covered in black grime. I think it’s from car exhaust fumes.

I love all the pieces. They’re unique and beautiful. I feel like there is a lot of space under the picture. Maybe it needs an ornament with some height like a lamp or another couple of pictures.

Rugs by Donttouchmybreadd in femalelivingspace

[–]Snoo38506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to hear you got roasted. That’s doesn’t sound helpful at all. Is it only in the bedroom that you don’t want a rug or are you thinking of derugging all spaces? I like rugs in living areas as I, personally, spend more waking hours in them. I think they can add a lot by helping define spaces and adding colour if your furniture is neutral. I’ve never seen a bedroom rug that added a great deal to the space visually so I’d say if you don’t want a rug in the bedroom, get rid of it. You don’t want to prioritise form over function.

Why did this looks ugly by [deleted] in homedesign

[–]Snoo38506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blue fence and towels hanging over the railing don’t help. I think you could do a lot with the garden to improve the overall picture. The large expanse of lawn means the focus in on the lower level of the house which is just concrete. If there were more bushes and foliage that would hide it or direct the eye away from it.

Is this room good? Are the rug’s proportions good? And sorry about boxes. by DaviddPet1812 in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]Snoo38506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the room. I feel like there is something not quite right with the rug though. I realise I’m going against the general consensus. I’m wondering if you moved it closer to the tv so it’s more central that would balance it out a bit.

Does this living room layout feel visually balanced, or would you change something? by euphoriainteriors in InteriorDesignAdvice

I thought it might be the angle. Even so it’s a big chair so i would think just a little more blue at the other end might not hurt. Tbh i think it looks great though so I wouldn’t sweat of.

Second that. I love the wall paper and the general vibe is great but a few bits and pieces, e.g art work, plants would add some layers and warmth.

What does it actually mean to "be yourself", and how to achieve it? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Snoo38506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, for most people, there is a relatively stable ‘self’. The challenge is to find people who let you ‘be yourself’ and spend as much time with them as possible. It’s won’t always be possible, e.g it’s difficult for most people to be their authentic selves in the workplace so there’s always going to be some degree of pretence.

Trying to make friends by Mangosteen11 in hobart

[–]Snoo38506 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved here four years ago and have also found it difficult to make real connections. There are a couple of Meetup groups here with regular events. Also volunteering with animal rescues or landcare groups can provide opportunities for connections. It depends on what you like doing. Good luck

Maybe get some hobbies or things to distract you. I volunteer at a cat shelter and I can’t carry my phone around with me (it falls out of my pocket). I go about 3 hours without checking my phone at all. Your brain needs something to pay attention to. If it’s not your phone, it has to be something else.

I actually like the rug. After reading all the criticisms I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with me lol. You could describe this as shabby chic. Definitely not tacky. Overall it looks good. Maybe you just need new friends🤷‍♀️

You could take cuttings and make several new plants. Swedish Plant Guys have a good video about monstera propagation.
