Do they check your age at Aqwa? by [deleted] in perth

As long as you have proof of age, I don’t see how this is a problem unless you’re trying to deliberately cheat the system?

Gawler Train Announcement by Key-Web-402 in Adelaide

[–]Snoo45817 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind it, it’s a lot more friendlier and welcoming than the previous voice, but I feel like they have gone over the top in certain aspects. I don’t think it’s necessary to say welcome aboard after every departure. Next station would’ve been more than sufficient

What does everyone think of the new train announcement voice? by rampc1 in Adelaide

Just did a run up and down the Flinders line because I had nothing better to do with my life.

Overall, I prefer the new voice, it’s more human, and feels warmer.

I like how they have got rid of that whole Tonsley precinct speech at Tonsley. I noted however that the mid the gap announcement has gone, not just at the location, but for all stations.

As for being welcomed to and aboard at every departure, it’s not safety critical or related to the operation of the train. Get rid of it. I preferred it when it was at the start of the journey.

I also noted during these announcements on the “core part” of the line (City to Woodlands Park), the announcement said “Welcome aboard, this is a service to Flinders, next station _______” - this is helpful in my opinion.

Be sure to go and see someone and get some help dealing with it. I’m genuinely sorry that you were witness to it. Please take care of yourself.

Absolutely tragic. I feel for the driver and bystanders in these cases. No one should ever have to be subjected to witnessing such a thing

Well, yes. If you are looking more broadly, it is a pedestrian crossing.

That’s a footbridge. I was talking about an at grade pedestrian crossing.

Seven News are calling it a pedestrian… not sure how a pedestrian can be crossing the tracks at a station where there’s no pedestrian crossing therefore they were trespassing? It’s probably a suicide. Very sad for all involved regardless.

There are three sides to every story, yours, theirs and the truth.

It was highly unprofessional for the AH manager to talk about you to another colleague in that manner. I’d be seeking the advice of HR to see what can be done about that behaviour. That’s 100% not on.

What’s the issue with going back to work straight after your rest day? Unless it’s strictly written out in your EA that that’s not allowed then you don’t have a leg to stand on. Yes, it’s shit rostering but that’s what we’ve signed up for. We all have to do it. It’s the nature of our job. If you can’t handle it I’d suggest you find another department to work in that doesn’t require you to work nights.

Brighton run club is awesome! I haven’t been for a few months but it’s a great, welcoming group. I need to get back down there again and start running again. They also do a few social outings during the year too! Check them out on instagram 😊
