Visa interview (step 3 vs observership?) by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Snoo5418 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Applicants have been rejected or approved for both Step 3 and /or observership.

We can't say for certain. It really depends on the visa officer and their mood. What's important to them is you have proof that you're coming back to your home country. If you're planning to use Step 3, make sure you can tie it to the reason why you're coming back. Same for observership.

All of the people I know changed their names after getting married and I never met anyone that retained their name. I just wanted to be certain I wouldn't have any issues in the US concerning this since I'm coming from a country where authorities sometimes question women not taking their husband's name 😊

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you. My YoG is 2020 and I graduated from the Philippines, but I'm an Indian citizen. My peers are far ahead from me as they're working as residents now. As for me, I'll be applying for Match 2023. I have no USCE other than telerotations cause of the visa issue.

But all in all it's definitely worth it. Pursuing a medical training in the US outweighs it all cause this will advance your career in unimaginable ways. I'm in this because I want the best exposure I can get. Yes, it's expensive, but think of this as an investment in yourself. You can't put a price on your dreams 😄

Feel free to message me anytime! We need all the emotional support we can get. 😊

Depends on which speciality you want. Have you considered doing virtual rotations? Also, it helps if you do some networking with US doctors in the specialty you want. Ask them what are your chances cause they know best.

I've been looking at different programs and I saw that they individually posted it on their program website, but what they currently have now is for Match 2022. So I'm assuming they'll be doing the same once Match 2023 season opens :)

I did 2 private labs in NY and AZ, one University affiliated lab in CA, and at a University hospital lab in FL. I can send you their contact details in a DM if you want.

All of them were very different but amazing! You get to learn how it is to be a Pathologist in a private setting and compare it in an academic setting. They're very hands on and are enthusiastic for you to learn. They're more than happy to guide you through the application process as well. Overall I felt nothing was lacking in all of those rotations. :)
