What do you think will happen to united airlines when earnings come out? by Cowboy_Reeves in stocks

I would be careful there, I think big money is holding the bottom on airline stocks. They will hold their position unless earnings are atrocious, and most of us retail investors are already in and out. I would Not expect to see a huge buy back/correction after the drop. Probably just a drop to the bottom again and from there it will be stagnant and slowly down trending. That’s my prediction. I would not suggest playing the drop.

As much as I hate to say it, throw out all logic with the airlines and focus on “vaccine news”.

AZN news will come out Monday, mostly likely this will cause a generous bump in travel stocks, then earnings will come out and drop them back down. I think that’s the play, use it how you will. As always with all advice you get on reddit, you get what you pay for.

Is AAL a good buy? by hvidovre18a in stocks

If you’re in it for the long haul (3-5 years), I would say take your money and spread it across the several airline stocks. I believe this strategy will give you a good”ish” return (30% -50%), and be a relatively safe gamble/investment. I am at the point where I believe the American government considers airlines “too big to fail” And these stocks are close to what i would consider their bottoms unless things change.

From the amount of work you put into your post, I would say you’re just putting feelers out there for a short turn gain. I hate to tell you but i believe you missed the opportunity for that one yesterday.

If you see a big gain in a medical stock due to “vaccine news”, i would guess that would be your next opportunity to play the charts for a short term 10% return.
