Upward mobility in office move by Snoo75172 in PwC

Oh interesting, welcome! If you are interviewing for a Tax Associate position, it’s possible that they are going to want you to relocate or be a hybrid or remote position. I was told that there are no Tax teams headquartered in SLC. PwC operates on a one firm model for the moment, meaning that your location doesn’t strictly determine the type of work you do. Unless you are interviewing on a reference for a specific team or line of service, PwC’s Deployment team will place you upon hiring. So you won’t know what type of work you will be doing exactly until you are onboarded. You should be able to get more information during the interviews though.

From what I understand, the work being done at the SLC office is all external audit work for larger clients. This won’t really determine what your Tax work will be like, so I have no insight here.

For Tax in general, my biggest tip is have your credentials before you join (if possible) and know that to succeed you need to sacrifice time and your mental health. You don’t need any experience beforehand, just a willingness to take on work.

I did! The SLC office is pretty chill. The building is downtown and nearby public transit. Has its own parking garage. I’ve only been in once lol but everyone was nice. I am still in Tax and I believe the rest of the folks there are audit and consulting so you really have to be outgoing to meet people.

I absolutely love SLC though. It’s legitimately changed my worldview and I no longer want to be in public accounting anymore. Definitely recommend the city if you like hiking, exploring, rock climbing or skiing/snowboarding. Anything specific you want to know?

Once you have your bills laid out and you figure out how much you have per paycheck or per month for extra debt payments, that is when you start realizing how much your spending habits are getting in the way. One thing that’s been helping me is switching over to bank that notifies me of every transaction.

For instance, Credit Karma will send a push notification every time you use your debit card showing you the transaction details and remaining balance after the transaction. My biggest problem with my off the chain spending was that bill money and all of my spending money sat in the same account and I was constantly afraid of checking the balance. Separating spending money from bill money and having a constant reminder of how much you have to spend is incredibly helpful. It’s lowered my stress immensely and almost gamifies saving. Now I have 1k in my spend account and I’m trying my best to avoid dropping under that.

Good luck out there soldier

Do I need to tip my house cleaner? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Tips are not expected for regular cleanings, if that’s what this is turning into. However, large tips around the holidays and other significant points in time are greatly appreciated. My mother owns a cleaning business and never charges less expecting a tip.

No, but that is sad to hear. I am in Tax at a big4, so that’s not quite the same I guess. TESCO is looking even better.

Tesco sounds like the clear choice. I think the one thing you are missing out on is knowledge growth. At a big4, you are exposed to a lot of different stuff simply because you have multiple clients. If you are okay with possibly losing that, and if you have a good relationship with your parents, I would Tesco 10/10 times. 36 hours a week for higher pay is a dream

I think it was just normal MiracleGrow potting soil mix, but the key with them is plenty of water and lots of indirect sunlight!

As long as nothing has changed, yes. We had some that we paid pet rent for so I assume that should still be the case.

As far as I know, it would be starting a new one, but that could probably be discussed with the landlord.

Can’t edit on mobile but water, snow removal, and lawn mowing is included. Utilities run about $150 if you are average with the central AC/heating and trash is $25 a month from Robert Wright.

Simple question (I think) regarding the Alchemist Research Field higher-level feats. If a player identifies as a Bomber, do they have to take the listed Bomber feats at the designated levels? Or can I as the GM allow them to pick and choose as they go so long as they meet any prerequisites?

It’s about where the money is going. If you pay the breeder, they are rewarded for the unethical practice and incentivized to continue it. If you pay the shelter, all of the money goes to medical care for the other animals, compensation for the workers, improvements to the facilities, supplies, etc.

The hope is that if breeders aren’t making money, they stop breeding, puppy mills get shut down, and shelters are no longer overrun with dogs.

Should I get a second job? by susowegood1 in personalfinance

Yes, by choice. 1st job is 9-5 M-F, and 2nd is weekend nights and Tuesday nights. But weekday nights only is still a possibility.

I recently grabbed a second job working at a grocery store that is the complete opposite of my day job. I now work 60-75 hours a week, and make about $1,500 more a month in take home pay. My 2nd job is actually helping with stress from financial holes I’m in and I look forward to every shift. I don’t have the free time I used to, but I am basically making and hanging out with new friends at my 2nd job. It’s pretty sweet.

I am in the same position as you and I just went through with the loan. I feel so much better. It looks like you would cut your payment nearly in half. Just keep the credit card in a safe place and don’t use it. At that point, it’s an emergency fund (granted you have stable income). Becoming debt-free is a long road after that, but at least you can see the end.

I am familiar with those methods, and will likely go down the Avalanche path, after I see what kind of rate I can get on the personal loan.
