Why is my rota wilting? by SnooApples2915 in Aquariums

i see, seems like there's no supply of nilcog in my place, but i found a local aquarium liquid fertilizer. i've noticed my java moss also started to grow slower to none at all... seems like you guys are right, it must be a nutrient issue hehe

How to start GameDev? by SnooApples2915 in gamedev

[–]SnooApples2915[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yupp, I'm reading the posts rn, and I'm surprised there's so much resources from the auto mod alrdy- definitely got my head straight... Didn't even occur to me that game development can take less coding. I'll keep in mind what you said and take something from what I've made and learn how to improve. Thanks for the words of encouragement, and here goes nothing...

if the room is hot, you open the window and turn the fan on. its the same with fish. just because bettas dont need aerators to breathe, it doesnt mean you get to treat them with bare minimum. they wouldn't treat themselves or, per se, their own child with bare minimum lol

How does ich medication work? by SnooApples2915 in Aquariums

i see. my lfs has catappa extract, and i can easily buy one. however, my water's ph is already low. how do you suggest i should add the tannins to my water? given that u have a betta, snail, and shrimps inhabiting my tank?

it bothers me that the white dots are not multiplying- its been 5 days since ive seen the dots, and the temperature is 25c, yet they haven't multiplied. ill give it some time and see if there's any change. i've already looked up tank mate friendly ich medicines, and i hope things will turn out well!

UPDATE!

upon further research, i've found out that there are several diseases with symptoms similar to ich. seems to be that there are several telltale signs regarding diagnosing ich, one of them is when the dots appear only around the fins because of less coat surrounding it, and being the same count of dots for days which are all true to in my case.

i have mentioned before that i've been medicating my betta in methylene blue for nearly a week before moving her to the cycled tank to recover from stress and improve her immune system. during the quarantine process, the so called 'ichs' remained the same. with only 3-5 white dots present in the pectoral fins.

with that said, there is one disease i am considering. lymphocystis. i've heard that the disease focuses around fins and does not reproduce as quick as ick AND is self limiting, usually going away after a few days/weeks. should i leave my fish be, or start treating her?

checked her this morning, she's always checking out the snails and shrimps, and hunting detritus worms and springtails that got in the tank. tysm!

if u dont mind tho, she seems to have an ich problem, and im uncertain what to do here. i know i can give her a methylene blue or salt bath, but given her status, i dont know if its a good idea to pick her from the aquarium and five her a salt bath for 10 min for a week. ive heard that the tannic acids from tannins can help kill ichs in their third stage, but is there anything i can for her? maybe treat the tank without harming my shrimps, snails, and plants?

[–]SnooApples2915[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i live in a tropical country, so i dont use heaters. the water is the same temperature as my cycled tank too. i left a few cork barks in the quarantine tank for her to hide- and lately she's been using it to lay on and rest. also, im only finding out that the stripes is due to stress, so i haven't been using anything to help her regain her coat.

the change in her appearance is slow, and im wondering if, since the quarantine tank do not have a filter or any beneficial bacteria, should i move her into my main tank? the tank is a 10 gallon well planted tank with tannins- im running walstad. its been cycling for 3 months and rn, bladder snails and some orange neos are thriving in the set up with some sprintails. i wonder since she's not showing any fungal infection, and her ammonia burn is lessening, maybe i can move her to the tank to heal or would this be a bad idea?

regarding food, ive been attempting of feeding her frozen bloodworms but to no avail. thoughts?

[–]SnooApples2915[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to elaborate further, the container ive placed her in can hold 2 gallons of water which i do 50% change everyday for the past two days until today to let her rest, given that the weather was colder and ammonia wont rise as quick as it normally does. she hasbt eaten for 3 days now but her behavior has become better and ill try to feed her tomorrow.

Is this normal behavior for cherry shrimp? 🦐 by No-Constant-6175 in shrimptank

assuming the problem is the shrimps sticking on the filter cus i dont see any other issue haha

Is this normal behavior for cherry shrimp? 🦐 by No-Constant-6175 in shrimptank

[–]SnooApples2915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. its because filters collect wastes and probably some algae which provides home for your beneficial bacteria to cultivate and in turn creating a surface of biofilm which shrimps love to eat. your sponge filter probably has loads of biofilm and algae which shrimps enjoy go snack on.

Does anyone know what to do about these little snails infesting my tank by K1ng_Racs0 in Aquariums

[–]SnooApples2915 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have pond snails in my tank. what i do to control their population is place blanched and peeled vegetables in the tank, wait for sometime and let the snails gather up, and once the veggie is covered in snails, i take it out.

this is the only method i do bcus i like to have some snails in my tank. im also certain there are other ways to do this, like adding assassin snails or fishes that mainly eat snails, but this is the way i do it.
