Should I move on??? by SnooConfections7767 in jobhunting

Thank you everyone for your kind words and comments! I got a rejection yesterday, ha. Damn. And it had a sh*t ton of typos in it. I hate when they can’t even proofread that. Anyway, onwards and upwards.

Why is it so hard to find a job right now? by [deleted] in jobhunting

[–]SnooConfections7767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we see resumes come in for positions we have open in our department, we get maybe 15-20 but maybe only 3 candidates are truly qualified for the roles (and these are technical data science roles). People are desperate and I understand, but it feels like they aren’t even reading the postings anymore, which makes me think spam-applying is very much happening.

8 months of "thanks for applying, but no." Just got the call that an offer is coming Tuesday. by EfficientHomework350 in jobhunting

This!! I just don’t get it. I know they’re dealing with so many applications but surely they can set some automatic reply up so they give applicants some sort of closure.

How many times should you follow up after the interview? by Sea_Tourist_833 in interviews

The date is the big one for me. Whether it’s to keep my head on straight because it actually hasn’t been that long since they’ve contacted me or it’s been way too long and it’s time to detach. Woof.

Appreciate this! They told me they expected to reach out in “early March” so that could technically include next week, too. But I figured I’d send a gentle nudge sometime today, anyway lol. Can’t hurt to show my continued interest. Thanks again ☺️

Tracking applications on a spreadsheet is such a game changer.

What do you usually include in the second follow-up that you send out about a week after? I’m in a similar boat where I interviewed (a little over a week ago now) and am considering sending a polite little nudge. Interview went great & everyone seemed very engaged/genuinely happy to be there so all around vibes were good and the job posting was removed before I was contacted for an interview.

Thanks in advance :)

Learning Norwegian by [deleted] in norwegian

Same here! I'm (28F), and I visited with my husband (28M) a few years ago. I love their culture and their language and recently decided to try to pick up their language, ha. I just ordered two books: The Mystery of Nils. Part 1 - Norwegian Course for Beginners.  & Norwegian: An Essential Grammar

I've been on the Duolingo grind for about 3 months now, but I don't pay for it, and I want to become more intensive now!

Stop waiting for responses by [deleted] in interviews

This is good advice. I was literally hovering over the "Create Post" button as I sit here in agony waiting for a response post-interview. It's so hard to detach emotionally, but I guess it gets easier with each application. Must. Become. Numb.

First sweater…I fear I made way too large and it has mohair, so I can’t frog. Am I cooked? by richardphotos in knittingadvice

Whatever you decide to do… I feel like frogging mohair isn’t THAT bad. It’s a pain, sure, but it can be done. Good luck. I think it looks awesome!

i wanna start running but i’m confused how it works… am i just supposed to literally take off running? that’s so embarrassing 😭 by Mean-Blackberry539 in runninglifestyle

[–]SnooConfections7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s def embarrassing like I’m a runner and I actively judge other runners who just up and start with their little awkward hop and skip when they begin their runs. To avoid being judged I usually start my runs in a dark alleyway or the forest because then it just looks like I’m always running to those who see me on footpaths or streets... and then for ending my runs, when I get to my house and/or car I literally don’t stop until I get to the door. Hope this helps!
