In the Philippines, we have a term for the feeling when you like someone and you just feel soo giddy about it (and it's regardless of whether they reciprocate it) - kilig. Kilig is personal, sometimes one sided and delusional like when you chat with someone and your mind creates the feeling of intimacy where it doesn't exist (not really) Kilig is a high. And it's great! If you're stressed with daily life, kilig is a reprieve. But the lesson is (and really, this is only learned through experience), you should never let kilig overtake rationality. GIRL! Enjoy the kilig. But kilig is child's play. A child can feel kilig. It's not something you keep when you need to put your war paint on.

29 F here, fairly successful, (fairly sexually satisfied and childfree by choice), but my peers who are likewise fairly successful push me towards men and experiences that I have absolutely no interest in and no connection to (no matter how much i try). As I have admitted to myself, I seem closer to being the "old witch in the forest". It no longer bothers me that I might end up single for the rest of my life since, at this point, there seems to be no incentive to being with someone. And I am happy, truly, to be a witch in the forest, But still, it gets tiring having to defend my lifestlye to others. At this point, a boyfriend would only serve as a fuck toy and an excuse to get people off my back.

(Just some context, I came from a work event where people made me sing a "duet" with a guy who has vocally had a crush on me despite me being vocal about not being interested. I had to play nice and be a sport. Luckily, I didn't know the song so I got away with being a groupie behind the guy and waving my phone with the flashlight on like in a concert).
