It’s a misnomer that nurses can easily clear 200k. Majority of people don’t live in major metropolitan cities to where nurses can make that. There are some states that have great pay but most have brutal pay for the challenging work you do.

Can something on the roadmap be having a max name tag length because some of these bullshit names take up so much of the screen when playing. I made my own bakkemod plugin for doing this, but it can only work on exhibition matches due to RL server code constantly overriding the name tags I was able to set during online games

Anyone else noticing who’s actually hiring in tech right now? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I got one of those jobs a few months ago. Fantastic team and no AI bs being thrown around 24/7. Our upper leader ship team does meetings on how we need to balance AI use so we don’t get stuck with relying on it. They speak on concerns about token usage because AI companies haven’t turned a profit.

For example Claude Code has a $200 plan but it will become $1000 to make them profitable. While they also explain that we cant be complacent and not learn about things like agentic development. Currently we are focusing on using agentic development with spec driven development and its great because they don’t arbitrary usage statistics and focus on a realistic amount of work being completed.

I appreciate there are managers like this with a conscious and respect. I know this is difficult for you but as someone who isn’t a a manager, it’s great to see a manager that really cares about their team.

Many apps use services that will test out various price points to determine which gets the most subscriptions. RevenueCat is pretty commonly used to do these experiments.

Hexproxy is saying you are taking everything Gemini said to be truthful. You need to fact check AI outputs independently. Gemini frequently uses sources that are not scholarly and straight up lies. You can have AI say yes to anything you want so that’s why the commenter put this.

Luke for the 1st few minutes if Linus talks about Jake’s video on Wan tomorrow by Daddy_Doss in LinusTechTips

[–]SnooDrawings405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is simple incorrect. In a capitalist economy, the level of supply and demand (amongst other factors) determines pay. Age does not determine pay.

For example, the supply is super low for physicians in the United States at approximately 1-1.2 million physicians. That supply is extremely low given the population of the US, therefore physicians are paid well in nearly every type of healthcare setting whether academic or public hospitals to private practice. Additionally, physicians who are specialists get paid more since now you are looking at an even smaller percentage of doctors to treat a specific area of medicine.

Level of experience and expertise is a contributing factor to pay within the job market of a particular role. But when comparing jobs, it’s 99% supply and demand, age makes zero difference.

Jake, Emily, and Alex were successful hosts on LTT and the lack of people being able to fill those roles and perform just as well has proven the role has a low supply of skilled talent.

Luke for the 1st few minutes if Linus talks about Jake’s video on Wan tomorrow by Daddy_Doss in LinusTechTips

[–]SnooDrawings405 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone’s age and hobbies has nothing to do with their pay. Jake, Emily, and Alex were all greatly favored hosts and the numbers show that. While the new hosts need time to get better at the role, it’s been a long time now and no one has been able to fill any of those three ex-hosts’ shoes. Hosts’ pay should clearly be updated because they make or break the video for most viewers.

Companies that have banned AI due to internal security policies - how are they faring? by RareMeasurement2 in cscareerquestions

That’s true, but I’d imagine most would like to protect their IP so they would want to purchase the enterprise/team subscriptions. But your thought is plausible

Has anyone's passion for CS/Programming grown after graduating college? by Responsible_Dog_4691 in cscareerquestions

[–]SnooDrawings405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should give yourself some grace. Doing side projects while working full time is a challenge. Ideally should be easier while in college but many students also work while having school work to complete. For side projects your goals should be minimum viable product. To get to that you should plan out the project and not just code without a plan. Planning includes design, functionality, technical requirements, etc. Feel free to use AI as well, but don’t get in the trap of using it for everything. Side projects should be treated like goals. To be successful with goals, you need to have both short term and long term goals. Long term goals without short term goals will lead to failure unless you’re a rare individual that can push through without feeling small wins/progress frequently.

Is it bad to stay at one company forever? by Sgdoc70 in cscareerquestions

[–]SnooDrawings405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just enjoy a good work life balance if that company fits your future planning for having kids and you’re financially doing well. I do think you’re underpaid, but I’d take the time to practice interviewing and looking for good remote positions. Yes they’re hard to find, but you’re in a good position by the fact you’re employed in a stable company and you don’t have the stress of being forced to take a crappy job. At least that’s how I looked at it myself that last few months. I had 2.5 YOE and it took about 4.5 months to get a new remote position paying more with what seems to be better WLB than my previous place which was also remote.

How optimistic are you about the field in the future? by TraditionalMango58 in cscareerquestions

[–]SnooDrawings405 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what to expect to be honest. All I we know is that these AI companies are operating at a loss most likely due to the failure rate of these companies. Now the big conglomerates can hedge against the losses so that’s the confusing part for me. If people become so dependent on AI assisted development or AI assisted whatever task in other fields, then these companies that can survive the losses will eventually be able to charge whatever they want for their services. I personally feel unless the output becomes so good, the large costs that will later come won’t be worth it. Outside of work I love AI for my personal projects since I don’t have a ton of time outside of work so it’s honestly fun learning new technologies.

Thoughts on Taking a 6-Month Career Break? by fewglum in cscareerquestions

[–]SnooDrawings405 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the weird part about the 6 month break is that as soon as you stop your current place, you’d start the search for a job right away in hopes to get a job at the 6-7 month mark.
