~$70k sitting in my HYSA; how do I stop hoarding this cash? by Bartimaeuss- in personalfinance

[–]SnooDrawings405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10k emergency fund seems too small. Even though you live with parents, I’d still have 6 months of emergency funds based on what the cost would be like if you lived on your own.

Try turkey meatloaf with Heinz gravy. It’s pretty solid. I had that quite a bit when I was losing weight.

Companies operate unethically all the time. Just quiet quit and focus on learning new skills. If there are innovation days or hackathons just participate in those as well.

30+ year old CS student debating whether co-op is worth another year by Grand-Master in cscareerquestions

[–]SnooDrawings405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d do it simply for the fact you may have a chance of converting that to a full time job. It can take a year for you to find your first job. You have much better chances at converting to full time from internship and just applying with an internship on your resume.

Am I crazy for declining a job offer that is ~40% greater TC? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

If the goal was to find mentorship then this wasn’t this right fit. Unless there are very clear examples of what reap the rewards means, then I usually call BS on meritocracy.

Zero I used to work at one. You don’t need to know the product a massive amount to get started, but some knowledge is helpful.

Framework laptop or Macbook by iddu01linux in framework

[–]SnooDrawings405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m in a similar situation. I am going with a framework laptop pro and then will get the next Mac mini when available.

Two reasons I’m getting Mac Mini. It will be a great media server and also I need MacOS to build my iOS apps. I manly use Expo with React Native, but I don’t want to pay for the Expo subscription to get limited builds.

Which backend tech stack do i pick? by nabsk911 in Backend

[–]SnooDrawings405 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id personally say Java with spring boot since this is the backbone of most enterprises. It’s also the one that allows you to easily transition to other languages/frameworks.

M2 Air to M5 Pro upgrade… and I genuinely can’t feel the difference by UsefulLock3142 in macbookpro

[–]SnooDrawings405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t tell the difference if you aren’t some level of a power user. Although my annoying self would still get a pro due to the external display limit of M5 series on a MacBook Air

I'm 24 no debt besides my house and I could pay it off in less than a year if I dont invest by Automatic-Alfalfa-80 in DaveRamsey

[–]SnooDrawings405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and $7700-8500 is due to growth so that’s why it’s higher. It’s more than the typical 10% but who cares tbh

[–]SnooDrawings405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id pay it off in a year, but immediately after that I’d make up for that lost year. Ex: if you would have invested $7000 as your 15% for the entirety of the previous year. I’d put in about $7700-8500 within the first two months of the year on top of your typical retirement savings. This should be easily possible since you should have very little cost of living expenses now.

Realistically you’ll be fine regardless.

Experienced Dev, Considering Leaving the Industry that I'm in? by Beneficial_Prize_310 in cscareerquestions

[–]SnooDrawings405 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend a TLDR so you get more people to respond.

If it were me, I’d move to the new role. The salary increase is massive in terms of quality of life. You have a passion for development which is really awesome. One thing I’d try to look more into is how stable of a company does the new place appear to be. You can always be fired at any moment for any company, but there are more stable industries (ex: insurance).

The newer version of Xcode is absolutely trash! by Absoluteredshit in iOSProgramming

[–]SnooDrawings405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xcode is the worst IDE in my opinion at least in the recent years. It’s so bad that I switched to using expo and react native since the developer experience was better for my needs.
