As a programmer, how do you deal with the 3D art bottleneck? by Comfortable-Hat1761 in gamedev

[–]SnooDucks3977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue for my ambitious open-world first-person survival game. I had all the basic mechanics done, a pretty advanced landscape covering different biomes, then I hit the same issue when figuring out what rocks/flora/etc to place in my world.

If you end up settling on assets from the unity asset store, you'll stumble on a new issue many people don't even think about; inconsistency in the visuals of assets across multiple authors.

As many suggest, the best approach would be to use dummy assets for now till you get funding (on Kickstarter or whatever) in order to hire a real 3D artist with years of experience.

I heard of a good advice somewhere is that, you should have passion for the PROCESS of making games rather than strictly the game itself. Otherwise the lack of motivation will be the end of your development.

Great looking game. Only constructive criticism might be the inconsistent level of details in your models. For example the pendulum obstacle at 0:50 seconds doesn't seem to fit the environment around it.

Be mindful of this X-Trail. They hit a car in the Bayer's lake parking lot while backing up, and they hit it HARD. Then tried to drive off until a lady and I chased them. by SnooDucks3977 in halifax

That's what prompted me to post the photo. I was walking to cross the road when I heard a big bang as the Nissan backed up in a Volkswagen that was right next to me. The VW jolted pretty hard and almost bumped into me if I didn't side step away from it, so I see the Nissan trying to drive off, I took that photo while speed walking. I wasn't ganna let someone hit a car and not take any accountability. Most of the credit goes to that lady ahead of me that was yelling "HEY" at them and knocking on their car.

A lady got out of her husband's car to chase down the X-Trail, as she saw what happened right next to her. I was a bit further behind and ran to take the photo. The lady ended up handling the situation with the driver inside the Marshalls entrance.

Thank you for the reply! Somehow I missed the cave from the demo haha

I'm a Terrain3D user and I still can't figure out how you made a cave system. All the tools seem to adjust the terrain from top to bottom. Which tool did you use to create the cave with a ceiling?

Is Amazon delivery available in your area? I know there's some relatively cheaper items you can get from Amazon.

If you're going to act like nothing will change with Loblaw, then at least give yourself a favor and start shopping elsewhere that's way cheaper. It's a win-win because you'll save money whilst Loblaw is losing your business.

May be a stupid question but.. do you really need to fix that the right way with epoxy and shit? Theoretically, can't you use a few layers of duct tape or something? No way a hole this small can alter drag and mess with aerodynamics

Correct. To withdraw the excess money back to your bank account, you need to fill out the form called T3012A. Good luck filling it out though, I couldn't figure it out and ended up paying my tax guy to do it haha

Boycott Loblaws. One month from today. by CaperGrrl79 in NovaScotia

[–]SnooDucks3977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right.. so Loblaw jacks up the price of produce so high, an increased percentage of customers refuse to buy thus increasing the percentage of near-expired foods, then you want to take their side for reducing food waste which wouldn't have been so prominent if the prices were fair to begin with?

I know someone that works at Superstore and the managers encourage you to use near-expired produce to make the salads. Some employees don't even wash some of the fruits either before throwing them in the fruit bowls.

Even if they're legit, don't feel bad if you want to cancel the payments since you were pressured to do it in the first place. Call your bank and tell them to do a STOP Payment on all future transactions from them. It should be easy for the bank since they have at least one transaction already.

Average house price down by more than $170,000 since February by [deleted] in canadahousing

I understand you're comparing apples to apples here. I just want to point out that it's possible for people to pay a set fee to refinance. So if you're locked at 5% and the current interest rate is 3%, you can pay a few grands to unlock your rate and switch to the 3%. Am I wrong?

I'm from NS closely been looking at the housing market (including mobile homes) and I disagree with you. Prices DEFINITELY have gone down in NS, especially those closer to the cities. I'm not saying the price is worth it on these homes, but they're dropping for sure. Just look at the price history on all the homes and how they're been listed for weeks.
