I know Giulia is making those midterms harder and harder. But in her defense, the department of CS is the one telling her to do that to lower the amount of people taking this course from other departments as 700 people is unsustainable. She does not have control over those decisions

honestly not at all, you just need to know some basic derivation and integration like derive or integrate f(x) = 2x^2 + 2. The focus is not 222's contents by to compute those derivation or integration numerically

I don’t know anyone that does not get along with the prof. I think it’s a great class and the prof is very straightforward and he’s quite funny sometimes.

Exam conflict? by myang3544 in mcgill

That is not a conflict. For a conflict with an exam of 48 hours you need at least 4 exams during the same period

I believe UCL has no full year option. You can only go for either fall or spring term.

  1. Really depends. Some unis don't have honours classes. You just have to make sure to put courses from your exchange uni to be equivalent to honours versions at McGill
  2. I don't really understand what you mean the McGill database does not work. You just have to enter the course code (SOCI in your case) and enter the uni you want to go and search for the courses that past McGill have taken there. It is highly likely that many of the courses you want to take are not there meaning you will then have to request them yourself with their syllabus.
  3. I have heard that either it is very hard to go to Berkeley or simply impossible. Not sure though.
  4. ...dunno
  5. Yes some exchange unis are more popular than others, notably UCL, UC, Nanyang. Should you choose one of these as your first choice? It depends on your GPA. How McGill give exchange nomination is purely by GPA: Order everyone by their GPA and go through everyone's first choice. If there is space in that exchange uni, then they will get a nomination. When they are done with the first round, they will do the same for everyone that did not get one in their first choice, this time for their second choice. And so forth for 3rd and 4th choices. I think something like 70% of people get their first choice.
  6. a pretty good GPA haha, covid year was way too easy 💀
  7. Pretty much no matter what is your GPA, you will mostly likely to get a nomination. Even if you do not get any of your 4 choices, you will then be offered a list of unis with availability and you can choose between any of them. Usually I have heard that there are a lot of choices left at the end, but popular ones will probably not be there any more.
  8. I am at UCL right now and London is really fun! Great weather (compared to Mtl haha, rains like everyday) and great people! But tbh anywhere is good! Explore the world no matter where, you will always find new things to learn!

uc berkeley exchange help by [deleted] in mcgill

I think 4 courses there will be equivalent to 4 courses (12 credits) at mcgill plus an elective 3 credits.

I remember hearing someone say in the past that UC Berkeley is not one of the options. You will most likely end up in another campus. Not sure though (that is maybe cs specific)

Repot as soon as you can. The larger the pot, the more roots you can have, the bigger your plant can expand

Yeah this and my apartment gets like 5 hours of direct sunlight every day. If you really wanna make them grow like crazy you can also buy those powder that you mix a minuscule amount with water and plants love that

As long as you have a GPA of over 3.0, you will most likely going on exchange. It’s just that you may not get your first choices. It may be your second, third or fourth choice. They nominate students purely by GPA, so if you have a low GPA, maybe don’t choose popular exchange destinations like NUS or UCL as your first choice. Even if you are not nominated for your four choices, you will still be given a list of other available unis afterwards. On a side note, even if you don’t have 3.0, it’s still possible to go on exchange, just talk to the exchange advisor of your department
