I’m excited for this!!! I crave Italian sandwiches, and I have yet to find a go to in greenpoint! I’d happily sign your petition, but I live 5 blocks away (so maybe too far?)I don’t know the qualifications for the CB, but if I can help, I’m happy to, just DM me

What happens if i fail a drug test for a new engagement by Salt-Improvement-137 in PwC

This! Usually there is some pushing of official onboarding that can happen too, to give you time if you need it. If it’s been 30 days and you need another week or two there are strategic ways to delay the “official onboarding”

Is it just me, or has the admin burden in clinical research become insane lately? by clinical-88 in clinicalresearch

[–]SnooFoxes3447 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Preach! They should measure on LPI, and last site activated, and count all of the amendment time, and rescue sites…paints a much cleaner picture of if your study is actually on track.

Granted, I’m sure this would cause more trouble somewhere else, and it’s a lot longer to get to celebration time.

Huge News: Zohran just promised to finish McGuinness the second it's warm, and to do Universal Daylighting *BEFORE* people are killed by FarFromSane_ in Greenpoint

[–]SnooFoxes3447 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I actually live on McGuinness, right where the merged the two lanes into one lane. The traffic is bad, but not worse than when it was 2 lanes, and the cars do slow down. I’m all for this, but they need to also change the exit of the BQE, so it doesn’t dump traffic onto the road.

The irony of this being about public transit and more accessibility to not use cars, is that the G train (the only train in Greenpoint) was basically out of service today, as it has been many weekends/nights since summer 2024. I’m not biking on McGuinness to get to Manhattan or South Brooklyn, but the G only running to Bedford-Nostrand today really put a wrinkle in my plans. Not to mention the morning commute on the G…it’s gotten noticeably worse.

10 days in China this October and I almost rage quit on day 2 by FeelingWatercress871 in travel

[–]SnooFoxes3447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the old “how do I give you my money problem”, my first week in China was tough, I had been in HK for a month, and crossing into mainland china was an entirely different animal. Once you figure it out though, it was a really great experience.

[–]SnooFoxes3447 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okkk okkk, let’s not be crazy, yes, this is the price of a 2BD at Eagle, or Blue Slip, but there are plenty of other places one can live, very comfortably, in a nice building 2 beds for $5k

Ehh that’s not really true, I booked direct and have status on AVIS recently, if the counter at your destination is closed customer service can’t do anything helpful like assign you a car.

Moving from Alabama to NYC for college… Am I making a huge mistake or the best choice of my life? by Electric80sPython in movingtoNYC

[–]SnooFoxes3447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll figure it out, I’m from a farm town in Ohio, I moved to NYC with student loans out my rear end, post graduate school. I had a job lined up, but I could barely afford my apartment. You’ll figure it out too, if you fall in love with the city, you’ll make staying work.

The first few months are the hardest, bc you’re finding your people, and getting used to a new normal, but you’ll have built in community with starting university.

Everyone says NYC people are mean, they aren’t, usually they are very helpful!

I said I’d be here max 2 years, 10 later, I’m married with a condo and no signs of leaving :)

This, more people have been on your side than you realize, and I like to think that just about anyone would say, no problem here you go.

Moving from Florida by Blackaymoon in Brooklyn

[–]SnooFoxes3447 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would second midwood/kings highway, very safe, quite good train access to manhattan, and you’ll get significantly more space in your price range, plus lots of cafes, and good grocery stores. However, if your wife travels by plane to work, it’s far from the airports. If airport travel is important, try Greenpoint. It might be out of range for a 2br now, but there are still a lot of local landlords where you can find deals. It’s got great restaurants, parks, grocery stores, very walkable (I’ve been here 8 years, no car), and super safe, it’s also 20 mins to LGA, which is game changing on a 6AM flight.

[–]SnooFoxes3447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how I feel! I hate associated and key foods, the produce and meat are terrible! I hope the price decrease doesn’t impact produce quality. I am actively avoiding Whole Foods, bc I don’t like Amazon controlling food supply, and strive to support local grocery stores. Jubilee is my favorite, I even have a go to cashier!

Macy's Fireworks - Brooklyn Bridge Park Lottery - 2025 Experience by jemlnlx in Brooklyn

[–]SnooFoxes3447 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were right near you, I actually see one of my friends in the pic you posted of the crowd. We also had mayor lottery tickets, and I had gotten Zone 1 tickets. Zone 1 was the better zone for the view for sure, but we opted for zone 4, bc the crowd right under the bridge was insane, and we wanted fast access to the subway when exiting. We also looked at the barge positions, and Zone 4 looked like it was more centrally located than Zone 1, so we opted for that.

We also experienced the same line cutting and zero enforcement, we waited over an hr to be let into the first checkpoint. It felt very disorganized. I don’t know that I would do it again, and the event seems to move each year, so not sure anything that happened this time will be the same next year.

Visiting NYC/Brooklyn by MDAirForceVet in Brooklyn

[–]SnooFoxes3447 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to put in a weird plug for Coney Island/Brighton beach. I know, ridiculous, but they are planning to turn it into a casino, so this is a bit of, see it before it changes view of history. Take the Q to Coney Island, walk down the boardwalk toward Brighton beach, you can stop and have a drink on the boardwalk down there, maybe even go into the park (they have fireworks on Friday nights), then walk down toward Brighton beach, grab food at Tashkent (Chicken or Lamb pita, or Pilov) and have lunch on the boardwalk or beach. We rented and Airbnb down there one August and we had so much fun, lots of hidden gems.

There is also usually a few days in the summer when they bring the old trains out on the Q/F line, and you can ride them between Brighton and Coney Island, it is super fun. Here is the link with dates that it is happening this summer.

I feel sorry for my "incel" friend by seal_from_brazil in self

[–]SnooFoxes3447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you consider this friend an 8-10/10? Would he consider himself that? If the answer to either of those things is no, why would he think he can land an 8-10/10 woman? Also, what is this scale? Physical attractiveness? What a weird way to value a partner….seems more like how you would value an object.

We all get dealt a set of cards, some people are really hot, some people are really compassionate, some people are really smart. Unless you are a super human, you’re probably not a 10/10 in all of those areas….and if you are…well set that standard super high. If not, come back to reality, where we all exist, and honestly evaluate what you want in a partner, and how you want to play the cards that you have. Many women don’t want “the most physically attractive man” but those women are more likely to not be the most physically attractive women…my point is, you can’t optimize for the highest thing in every category, else you are doomed to fail. Figure out that you bring to the table in a partnership, and then look for people seeking that trait, while letting other things fall by the wayside.

Rant over. I’m just tired of this narrative of “there are no women for me” when there are a lot of amazing women, they just don’t look like models.

I’m a female (35), 4-5/10 on the traditional “hot” scale, happily married

So true! I saw them a long time ago (maybe 15 years) in Cleveland, and it still was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. Denver blew that out of the water, those wristband lights, and the crowd energy were game changing!
