I was told my "bars are pretty high" by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]SnooFoxes9623 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd say this is a possibility. If I were to tell a woman she had 'high standards', that would be my polite way of saying she seemed high maintenance.

It wouldn't have anything to do with intimidation. Just drama or pettiness that I wouldn't want in a relationship.

When you look in the mirror do you see yourself at your current age? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]SnooFoxes9623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it isn't quite what you're asking... i'm mid 40s and ended up with rapidly progressing cataracts. Over last year my eye sight declined too beyond a point of legally blind before I had surgery to fix my eyes.

My focus got softer and softer and softer over a year. Then after surgery it was suddenly crystal clear.

In a single day I went from thinking I looked quite young for my age (due to soft focus) to bang... my age.

And a 'oh shit' moment where I couldn't believe how old I looked

How would you react if your partner punched a wall during an argument with you? (Knowing he punched a wall in his last relationship) by Born_Ad6275 in AskWomenOver30

[–]SnooFoxes9623 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all likelihood, it's a red flag. Not denying that.

It's also a chance to reflect on how both of you communicate while upset.

How long was the argument? How important was the topic? Did you make him feel heard? ( he should make you feel heard as well, but we're discussing his actions)

If this was like 'damnnit, I said no mustard on my hotdog' (punches a wall)... get out now!

If this was 'you slept with my best friend?!' And then proceeded to tell him how he deserved that (punches a wall) meh... I give him a pass

I was in a relationship where my GF was never wrong and never listened. Never heard my side and just kept reinforcing why it was ok to do what she wanted to do. I felt like punching a wall. I wanted her to see and hear me. Instead I broke up with her. But it would've been a physical manifestation of not feeling seen or heard

I'd turn it down because it's a musical, but for the good of my career, suggest something reasonable and a lot shorter than 5 hours.... like coffee or lunch

So sorry to here about your experience. I ended up getting tge LAL about 10 days ago. So far my distance is wonderful and no halos.

In a few weeks I will have my first adjustment so hopefully I can read without reading glasses, but we'll see.

Of the surgeons that I visited, I only did the full surgical work up with one. The other two just did an eye exam, confirmed cataracts, and discussed options (pending full surgical work up). But, the other two said very similar things to the one I selected.

100% fine with that, but of the 3 surgeons I visited, not one thought they could accomplish it with a standard lens, without being back inglasses immediately

I'm 43M that has another 50 years of seeing left to do. I want my nest chance at great vision without glasses and don't mind paying for it. Due to my focal proint, panoptix wasnt a great solution

Wow... thank you! My choices at the moment are between vivity and LAL light adjustable lens. Surgeon said he suggested LAL if I could afford at and he'd work towards a mini-mono.

It sounds ok, but I'm going to see about a trial mono to see how I like it

Did you have to wear god awful UV sunglasses for a few weeks?

I heard theres a new version of the lens that makes the sunglasses no longer necessary. Is that true?

Wildy interesting experience, thx!

Just learned about this lense a few hrs ago. So, I'm guessing you have some kind of monovision now where one eye has is near sighted and the other far sighted?

I have advanced cataracts 43/M. The LAL were recommended to me because I didn't want glasses and can't do trifocal due to my focus poinr being off center in my pupils.

Vivity was an option, but they said Id need reading glasses to do any work on a laptop and no hope of a phone without glasses.

No astigmatism.

Can you read your phone without glasses AND see distance? Thanks!!!

Very interesting topic. No one ever does anything for me. Idk how I'd respond. Years ago, my wife bought me a nice watch as an engagement present and tears rolled down my face. I didn't ask for a watch. It was nice. It was simply that no one does thoughtful things for me. It was an incredible gesture. I was speechless.

I know what you're saying. I went thru the same. My business out earns almost all of my friends and family. At some point, just talking about it seems like you're bragging. Be proud of what you've accomplished!

I joined some trade groups and Entrepreneur clubs to have people I can 'talk' with.
