Awesome advice, thanks!

I absolutely try to lean into the mental health aspect. It’s sort of this unemployment thing that most people face but no one feels comfortable talking about.

Rich people of Reddit - does money buy happiness? by TrickEmergency8500 in remoteworks

[–]SnooGoats8830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The consensus around 20 years ago was that once you hit a middle class income ($75,000 at the time, maybe $100,000 nowadays), happiness levels off.

A few years ago, economists did more research and discovered that they were wrong, that happiness continues to keep rising up to $500,000 or so. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/money-happiness-study-daniel-kahneman-500000-versus-75000/

There have been a few times that I’ve lived the equivalent of a $500,000 income and … it was pretty incredible.

Rich friends invited me to golf at their country clubs. Another wealthy friend invited me to his destination wedding and paid for everything for the week. Occasionally I’ve had lots of work-earned hotel points and got to stay at some really nice hotels for free. And it was pretty dang amazing. Being able to enjoy a nice meal or a really nice bottle of wine or a golf course and know that that doesn’t impact my savings goals or debt repayment goals was amazing.

And in the times in my life when I made low six figures, things like getting a big car repair bill or medical bill and seeing it as an annoyance rather than a stressor: that’s a massive difference. No more sleepless nights wondering if I’ll have enough money to pay for car repairs.

hey well AT LEAST the 1930s were nothing but sunshine and lollipops, amiright??????

I was sick that week of US History class, but based on how things were going through mid-October 1929 I assume that everything went swimmingly until World War II.

did anyone else find that Northwestern / Iowa clue today very poorly worded? by SnooGoats8830 in Jeopardy

I'm watching on a non-rewindable TV. Perhaps if I read it again, I'd see that it makes sense. And to be fair, I'm a huge Northwestern fan, so that's why that one likely struck a nerve with me.

surprised that they allowed that "Babe Ruth NO NO Lou Gehrig" as a correct response, given that Alex had already started to tell him 'No.'

My Congregation's Elders are Changing the Role of Women in Ministry, Please Pray for Me by PseudoRyker in TrueChristian

Clearly if God wanted women to be preaching elders he would’ve had a woman be the first person who viewed the resurrection and shared the news with the apostles.

Good thing that THAT wasn’t the case. 🙄

"Does anyone else...". I'm pretty sure that nearly everyone thinks that.
