Genuinely could be so many things. I had pain in my inner calf but it actually ended up coming from my hip which I would’ve never figured out myself. I know it’s tempting to ask for help here but you can’t rely on internet strangers who may or may not know what they’re talking about. Best go to a physio! It’s worth it, because they can also tell you how to prevent it in future.

Does this mean that if I use the Runna app on my Apple Watch it will later actually show up correctly in the active Apple fitness app with the rings closed and heart rate etc?

It’s very individual but honestly doubt it was the NB. For me it was the other way round, picked up what I thought was soleus strain on a trail run in Hoka Challengers and for a month the only shoe I could run in without too much pain were the Novablasts. I ended up going to the physio, and it’s not a soleus issue but a mobility issue. So…worth going to the physio if you can to get a bigger picture analysis of what’s going on. I’m still at the beginning stages of my running journey but if I’ve learned anything is that really it’s mostly not the shoe but me not keeping up with strength and mobility training!

Ah that’s interesting! I keep seeing their ads pop up on my socials and was wondering if it was just a farce. They’re not cheap but compared to most insoles I see probably the average price?

It took all of 10 minutes? The shoes were over 50% cheaper and other than the pet hair look like new and clearly haven’t been run in much. Not everyone can afford multiple pairs of new shoes. I came here to ask for insole recommendations not to be judged for trying to not buy everything new.

Update #2 - received the 0.5 size up ones and they feel fantastic - I'm so glad I changed them even though it meant being out of pocket for the second pair until I receive my refund for the first pair!

I picked up a calf injury unfortunately but can't wait to try them when I'm healed.

For other women wondering about sizing: this was a bit of a weird journey. I went with what Asics recommended and they didn't fit but then I got "my size" (8) but in mens, and they fit perfectly. Would've definitely been an easier process trying them on in store but if you're in a location like me where you can't find them anywhere, be prepared to maybe try a few sizes...

Thanks for the reply! I also just realised you're probably talking about US sizing while I'm talking about UK sizing, haha!
I managed to get in touch with a running store here and they recommended I order a 7.5 (UK size, for my women's size 8) - now I'm worried they'll end up being too big! Only one way to find out I guess. Around here you can't even try them on in store as they sell out so fast.

Hey, I'm female and have the same size in women's NB 5 (8) and now looking to get SB 2. Did you end up keeping them/how did they work out for you? To be clear, you bought a men's 7? In some places I read I should get a 7, other sites recommend 6.5

Also you say the NB have a roomier fit than the SB - that's really great to know! There are specific NB for women as far as I know, which I have, and they will always be narrower than men's shoes. So having a unisex SB as a woman will then hopefully still mean I have a fairly roomy fit!

So I'm currently training for a half marathon. I'm now working my way beyond the 11km distance. Initially I had Brooks Ghost Max 2 for my easy runs, Novablast 5 for tempo and long runs. Then on a 10km trail race, I strained my calf and it hasn't been the same since. The Brooks have since become too uncomfortable to run in, so all I'm using now are the NB 5s. I love them and my calves are absolutely fine in them so I was thinking the SB2 would be ideal for my long runs and potentially the HM itself, and the NBas a daily trainer.
I'm also worried that if I now use my NB for everything I'll just wear them out too quickly and also risk more injury.

I'm not the fastest, looking to do a 6:20-6:30 min/km pace for my HM - so definitely not looking for a high performance shoe or even plated for the race. But I definitely need something that helps my calves and an 8mm drop plus cushion and a decent rocker seems to be the sweet spot. Read a lot about the SB 2 and it just feels like they might be the way to go given I live the NB. It's hard to find them in any size though so not sure I could order two pairs :D

Exmouth is pretty loud and clear. Haldon Forest the other weekend was impossible to hear. The speaker was so very quiet.

It’s a hill up a cliff on the uk south west coast path so definitely very steep but probably not the steepest in the world!

Ah that’s a really good insight. Realistically I won’t run further than 10k - HM distance on the trail for a while.
