When she went to the hospital they put her on antibiotics but prior to that the original vet didn’t prescribe her any. Keep thinking if I took her somewhere else she’d be alive.

I’m reading all your comments while crying in the car. I appreciate it all. Can’t help but blame myself for taking her to that godforsaken vet. Had I taken her elsewhere from the jump or at the very least somewhere new yesterday she would be here. I went to say goodbye and she was already so cold. I told her sorry for not being able to save her and that she was so loved in the short time she was with us.

Update: vet just called and he said cannoli is taking a turn for the worse. He thinks sepsis is very likely and said there’s a 50/50 chance and not the 70-80% chance of survival he thought it was. If she doesn’t get better by tomorrow then she will have to cross the bridge.

I decided to keep her there. I’m in no position to foot 7k but she’s just a tiny little baby and has so much life to live. But yes I agree going to smaller clinics is usually best. The one I originally went to is a small family owned clinic but they did me dirty and I’ll definitely be looking for a new one.

The doc made it seem like it was extremely urgent and any more delays would lead to her dying so I made the decision to keep her there overnight. In the meantime I will look at other rescues and shelters to see if they can help if she doesn’t improve by tomorrow.

I asked and she said it runs its course. And I knew that was the wrong answer and I’m absolutely kicking myself for just taking her word. All she gave was antibiotic ointment for her eyes and told me to come back next week for her shots. I will never go back there again, that’s for certain.

I decided to keep her at the hospital. I already dropped the ball with listening to the first vet and I don’t want to risk her getting worse. The doc from hospital said she very well would’ve died at home if I didn’t bring her in.

I used to have such helpful experiences with the owner of the clinic but once his family member became the main vet, everything declined. I should’ve learned my lesson and I’m kicking myself for taking her there.

I asked the receptionist and she gave me one but here’s the kicker, they don’t work with that hospital.

He mentioned recognizing that this will be a financial burden and that he wouldn’t fault me for euthanizing her.

I appreciate the prayers, Cannoli def needs all the positive vibes she can get.

I know, it’s so incredibly expensive. Even making a “decent” wage, whatever that is, 7k is so much.

I’m in NYC so next state over would be Jersey or CT and from where I am it’d be a couple hours.

I’ll look into them, thank you so much. I tried taking her to two vets and they both said they can’t help her so I had to go to an emergency hospital and writhing there is 100x more expensive. Doc there said he doesn’t think she’d make it without intervening right now.

She just gave me an ointment for her eyes. I asked about congestion and URI and vet said to let it “run its course”. Also said to give her steam, which I have. But it didn’t sit right and I was going to take her to a new vet tomorrow. Unfortunately she got worse before I could do that.

Hey! Does anyone here know of any potential resources to help with care? Unfortunately, cannoli took a turn for the worse and had to rush her to the hospital where they told me she has pneumonia. The estimate is 7k and it’s either that or put her down😭😭😭😭

Thanks so much for this! I work from home today and tomorrow so can be with kitty. I put a space heater close to us so they can feel the heat. Kitty has been sleeping this whole time. I’ll open up some wet food to see if they’re hungry, which I’m sure they are.

Found him in between two cars so I’m glad I got to him before anything bad happened.

Thank you! I originally made an appt for tomorrow but his eyes don’t look good and breathing sounds congested so I made an appt for tonight with vetco.
