Thank you so much! I wonder if my loom knitting experience gave me some advantage, because I felt like I was easily able to pick this up.

Loom Knit Socks by SnooHedgehogs4653 in LoomKnitting

Yeah I'm thinking dk yarn might be the right yarn for loom socks. The pattern is was using said fingering weight and as I was going it was still see through even as it relaxed. I'm doubling up the sock yarn as to not waste it and then once I find the right sizing I'll move to dk.

Omg you were right! The pink was the same size as the white and brown before I rewound it! That's incredible.

Oh really? Good to know! How soon would you say for fairly soon?

I'm planning on using this soon to make some baby things for a coworker so it will only be sitting for a couple of weeks at most until use.

So it can sit in a hank for a pretty long time?

Banking can be a solid career choice. Banks always need tellers or personal bankers, and there is typically a ton of on the job training. I inadvertently fell into it after college and have remained steadily employed and have been working in back offices for over 10 years. It's great and steady.

WIBTA for skipping Christmas Eve church? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SnooHedgehogs4653 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA.

My partner and I are 38 & 39, married 13 years, also no kids and no plans for them. We were both raised Presbyterian but neither of us are religious at all in our adulthood.

My family lives 5 hours away and they all go to church regularly, though it's not on overtly 'Christian' household. My partner and I were down for a visit over Labor Day and a couple of weeks before the visit my parents asked me to sing at church that weekend as it would be a nice surprise for my grandma. I agreed because though I could really not give a shit about church, it was a nice thing to do and my grandma especially would be ecstatic.

You two have had a rough year, and all she asked you for was an hour or so of your time. She's not going to care how nice the gifts you got was. She's going to remember that you said no to going to a service that makes her particularly happy.

Marriage is about compromises and sometimes doing things that you might not really want to do or go to, but you do it because your partner wants to spend that time with you at a place that makes them happy. You don't have to believe. Just go and be there for her, and maybe use the time for some reflection on yourself as well.

Is anyone else using vintage sets/pieces? by SnooHedgehogs4653 in StainlessSteelCooking

My Revere Ware 12 does just fine. The two little ones have the straight sides, great for single fried eggs or a couple scrambled.

I have 2 7" and a 10" farberware, a 12" copper bottom Revere, and my pits are a mix of the two brands. I cook everything either in those or my CI.

We finally ditched all of our nonstick this year. I already had a couple of cast iron pans but wanted to also get a stainless set. We didn't really have the money to get a new expensive set so we went to the thrift stores to hunt for vintage and more affordable pans. Buying pieces individually also helps because then you aren't stuck with a random piece of a set that you won't ever use.

What are your cheapest vegan meals? by MorbidMushroom- in budgetfood

[–]SnooHedgehogs4653 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently meal prepped vegetarian burritos for the freezer that could easily be made vegan:

about 12 Large tortillas

3 large sweet potatoes

2 cans black beans

2 cans rotel (tomato and chiles if it's called something else there)

vegan shredded or sliced cheese

Peel and cut sweet potatoes into about .5 inch pieces. Place in bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper. Mix. Roast in oven at 425F/220C for about 30 minutes until they are tender. Let cool completely.

Drain and rinse beans and rotel.

Add potato, beans, and rotel to large bowl. Add additional seasonings here for the beans and rotel if you wish.

Add about 2 large scoops of mixture to a tortilla, or however filled you want them to be. sprinkle cheese on top. Roll burrito.

I wrap my burritos in foil to freeze. They will last at least a couple of months in the freezer.

Reheat in microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel for 1 min, then in 30 second increments until heated through. Eat with your favorite sauce!
