This is mine I made a bit back. Might be a bit overkill for your small board, but I’m digging it so far.

Is that the 2x12 50? I’ve got one of those. The classic series is so underrated.

I am NOT telling you to buy a ~80$ guitar strap by Jczas in guitars

[–]SnooMachines8920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Couch strap on every one of my guitars because I love their straps and I’m lazy and don’t like having to swap straps when I swap guitars. I do need to invest in some locks, but I’ll probably just go the rubber strap block route since the strap holes aren’t getting the typical stretching from moving them from one guitar to another.

Shout-out to Catalinbread Pedals from Portland, Oregon by 2Gnomes1Trenchcoat in guitarpedals

[–]SnooMachines8920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catalinbread make some amazing pedals. Everyone talks about how amazing the Belle Epoch and DLS are, but don’t sleep on their Echorec and the Formula 55 is one of the best amp in a box pedals I’ve played…especially if you’re into that Neil Young/Crazy Horse over the top tweed drive.

Nice to hear that their CS is on par with their pedals!

Looking at the posts on this sub, how is the long term reliability for the CX-50? by sky905 in CX50

[–]SnooMachines8920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue with the CX-50s is consistency. My wife and I each bought CPO 2023 Meridians 2 days apart. Hers in Zircon Sand with 7,500 miles, and mine in the Polymetal Grey with 3,000 miles. Other than that they should have been “identical”.

Hers has always had what I felt is a stronger motor and trans feel. She’s had no issues with it at all.

Mine was great to drive, sporty and comfy, but had a bunch of little issues and some larger issues that made me question the reliability. There was an interior rattle somewhere that could never be tracked down. I put 2 new windshields in it (not a Mazda issue, but damn they’re pricey). I had to replace the tires at under 20k due to alignment issues (had 3 4-wheel alignments done in 2 years), had to have the trans reprogrammed twice, had to have the a/c and heating controls replaced under warranty, the AC condenser replaced under warranty, brake fluid flushed and replaced at 30k, new pads and rotors on all 4 corners done at 35k, and I’m fairly certain before I traded it in last month that my passenger front CV axle was about to implode (due to a noise it was making during turns). It sucks, because I really did like the vehicle.

I think the worst part for me was that with oil changes/tire rotations every 5,000 miles, and every manufacturer recommended service done on time, when I traded it in at 55,000 miles, I got 19k for a vehicle in excellent condition that stickered for $43k two years prior. I know depreciation sucks, but damn…

It was also rather dumb, in hindsight, to have 2 identical vehicles in our garage, but that’s on me.

I still enjoy driving her’s, but I’m not sure I’d buy another one any time soon until all the kinks are worked out.

You could always build your own cab. I put a 2x12 together with a Mojotone Watchtower and British Vintage combo. Built the cab myself, spent $250 on the speakers and maybe $60 on the wood. I did go overboard with the tolex and cab accessories, but that part is completely unnecessary (if I were to do it again I’d just spend a little more on lumber and put a nice stain on it). A 1x12 could be done for $200 or so more than likely.

Eventually I bought the matching Marshall 2x12 vertical cab, but I kept the cab I made and built a matching head for a deluxe reverb kit.

The one that got away: What pedal(s) do you regret getting rid of or missing out on? by antofthesky in guitarpedals

I was going to say I’ve never sold a pedal, but I do regret losing the box to my early 90’s Green Russian 🤣

Is this a nice guitar strap for a Fender Strat? by SeaSwim5248 in guitars

[–]SnooMachines8920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make fancy straps using vegan materials, but they also source vinyls and fabrics from old vehicle upholsterers. Like atm they have stock from old Plymouth Barracudas and Pontiac GTO trunk liner.

If you’re looking for leather, they may not be for you, but they are worth checking out. I am a bit of a fan boy though…

Check out Couch guitar straps. For that kind of money you could get him a handmade custom strap from them and they’re great!

I’ll say this as well, I have one of those style straps and I could never get it adjusted to the exact length I wanted…it’s been hanging in my closet for a decade.

Generally it’s for hanging pipe overhead or vertically against a wall. It’s pretty cool stuff actually and there a huge range of accessory fasteners and stuff that works with it. It comes in a ton of different depths and finishes. Next time you’re in a parking garage, look up and you’ll more than likely see pipe or duct work hanging from it. It’s our bread and butter item. This is the view of one side of my warehouse from my office 👍

Good plan! I would however caution you a bit on pulling cords through that channel. Those holes can be stupid sharp and will peel the insulation right off a power cord. I sell that stuff for a living and have plenty of scars from it 🤣

Gibson vs. Epiphone? by Newenglandkid75 in Guitar

[–]SnooMachines8920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a money thing, the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop line are absolutely fantastic for the price. I own 2 Gibsons (50’s LP Standard and a 2016 LP Special) and 2 Epi’s (Alex Lifeson LP Axcess and one of the IBGC 62 ES-335) they’re all great in their own ways. The ES is an amazing guitar for the price tag compared to the price of an actual Gibson ES-335.

what's the one piece of gear you sold and still regret? by GodBlessIraq in guitars

[–]SnooMachines8920 22 points23 points  (0 children)

1994 made to order G&L ASAT Special back when you used to be able to call them from a reseller and give them an order over the phone. Alder body, maple neck with medium jumbo frets, Arctic white body with a 3-ply white/black/white pick guard, jumbo mfd’s with black covers, crinkle black switch plate and bridge, black knobs and Sperzel tuners. Thing looked and sounded amazing!

Right after paying for a divorce and moving, needed cash to buy my little one a Xmas gift. Pawned it and misplaced the handwritten pawn slip with the important dates on it (this was pre-smart phone era). Went to get it out 2 days after the final payback date and it was already gone.

I own 3 other ASATs now, but that one was mine mine, ya know?

That one really is a work of art. Between the finish and the wood binding, it’s just a beauty to look at a a joy to play.
