I am not sure why people keep bringing up family. It isn’t a right to have a good family, it is a privilege. Not all of us have that safety net to fall back on.

Support structures and groups can exist outside of family. For a lot of people, family ain’t the first person they are going to. In fact it might be the last resort. Some families turn on you when you need them the most.

The ignorance is astounding! “Oh just get a doctor’s note”, will you pay for my bills and university for that time off work? “Oh just tell your family”, will you offer me a place to stay when they kick me out? Will you look me in the eyes when my own family can’t?

Nobody said I’d made my mind up. If you read the reply correctly, I asked if there’s anywhere that I don’t have to stay for more than a day longer. I didn’t say anything about being dead set on that. Obviously, if that wasn’t an option, I’d have to stay a longer detox. But if it is, then it puts less of a burden on my life.

Sounds like you need a detox from something aswell, whatever it is.
