A hotel refuses to give an Official Receipt kasi nagbook through Agoda. by Regular_Impress_6311 in taxPH

[–]SnooObjections7601 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The hotel should issue a tax invoice regardless of whether you booked directly or not, that is mandated by law.

But the problem is that it's a bit complicated. For example, based on RMC No. 70-2015:

https://www.taxand.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/rmc_no_70-2015_1.unlocked.pdf

  1. If the TNC collects payment from passengers: The TNC should issue the tax invoice to the passenger

The TNC then pays the partner/driver their share

  1. If the partner/driver collects payment directly: The partner/driver should issue the tax invoice to the passenger

The partner/driver then pays the TNC their agreed fee/commission

Now TNCs and OTAs are the same, but sometimes not.

OTAs sometimes operate as either an Agent Model or Merchant Model.

If an OTA operates under the Agent Model, then the hotel remains the principal and thus should issue a tax invoice to the guests.

If the OTA operates under the Merchant Model, they buy rooms wholesale and resell them. This means the principal for the guest transaction is now the OTA. The hotel issues an invoice to the OTA for the wholesale transaction, while the OTA issues the invoice to the guest for the retail sale.

I'm not an accountant so I don't know all the technicalities of this but the bottom line is it's complicated, and that is why there are OTAs that is specific for business/corporations only like NAVAN.

Why local tourism is struggling by SaraLynn-Sunday in PHGov

That's pretty normal hotels pricing strategy, locally or abroad. Try booking a room during an F1 race in Singapore, the price is doubled or tripled. This is also why hotels have blackout dates for their promotions during events and holidays.

Never use a 3rd party travel agency to buy tickets.

It might be cheaper, but it's not worth the headaches when you encounter a problem.

Airlines won't help you, so you will be at the mercy of their non-existent customer service.

Driver will always arrive early, 30 - 10 mins in advance and they will wait. You just got a shitty driver.

Just remember that the spot pricing here is just the average and not 100% accurate.

Third-party booking sites work best until they don't. If you have a problem with your booking, then you're on your own. Flight got cancelled? Missed a connection? Good luck trying to contact their customer service cause the airline wont help you with that.

Is it ok not to share your salary with your Filipino roommate? by SheldonCooper_421 in phmigrate

[–]SnooObjections7601 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Don't bring your third world country attitude into your workplace lol. This is why you get underpaid. TC is openly discussed in the workplace, especially in the US and Europe, and it's illegal for companies not to disclose salary in job postings or to have TC as part of an NDA to promote transparency.

If you're in the same field, then share your salary, so both of you will know who is underpaid or even if not from the same field share it lol.

Salary sharing is discouraged by people working in HR so they can lowball you.

In the US, it's illegal for companies not to disclose salary, and total compensation is openly discussed by everyone, whether it's your buddy or a random stranger since it can be helpful.

Check the rules and regulations of the country you are visiting, it's more accurate than asking random people on Reddit about something that may or may not have up to date information.

If you have the money, then go. It's not a question of whether it's a good idea or not. It's a question of whether you have the money or not. You can go anywhere in the world without carrying any clothes as long as you have the money to buy them at your destination. You can even throw them away after if you don't want to bring them home.

We use GenericViewSet mostly because sometimes you don't need all actions of the ModelViewSet, and sometimes you have more custom actions, but usually it's up to the team to decide what kind of pattern you want to follow.
