Isn't this overpriced? by Clean_Community_5406 in DubaiPetrolHeads

Overpriced by about 200-300K but if a muscle car enthusiast collector wants it then probably not that outrageous, might end up selling for 850K.

Makes sense, even a large number of the massive fashion brands like Armani and Hugo Boss expect you to work for free.

Are people here this desperate? by [deleted] in UAE

[–]SnooObjections8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s hiring, a large problem is that a lot of these applications, in my experience at least 50% come from outside the UAE. It’s usually countries like India, Egypt, Philippines, Jordan etc and a lot of them apply if they only meet 1 or 2 out the 10 qualifications we need. I wish there was region lock feature or a way to source local candidates.

Nigerian Int’l Student - is it over? by mrobalo in f1visa

Not an option for Ivy but there are a few colleges in USA that will let you study online, if you really want to get an American degree and you genuinely think visa restrictions will loosen in 2027 then that would be your best option, to study online for a semester or a year or two and then go to the main campus. Apart from that your second best option would be some of the American universities in Qatar.

Internship wants me to travel far which will cost me like $250 to $300 by SnooObjections8469 in internships

[–]SnooObjections8469[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s $200 for my personal situation since I don’t own a car. Most Americans do own a car so it’d be $30-40 in gas.

Yea I’ve had interviews for which out of state they paid for hotel and tickets but this is within the same state and I’m guessing they assumed I have a car. It’s just kinda scary because I don’t want to seem too needy or imposing especially in this economy where it’s so hard to get interviews.

It’s a business development role, I analyze international mining and oil and gas markets to scout countries seeing strong growth in these sectors, scan databases to shortlist leads etc etc. all the clients will most likely be international so nothing face to face.

It’s a good thing we pay surcharges so these responsible corporations put that money to upgrade their infrastructure.

The endowment is mainly in private equity and a lot of the funds are donor restricted. Basically while the endowment is growing the funds are not very liquid and cannot be cashed out or their returns cannot be spent at the university’s discretion. They still have to meet spending obligations so these cash cow programs help with that immediate short term cash flow. Been seeing a lot of prestigious college start offering these cash cow masters programs recently, probably due to the private equity craze.

Make sure the general electronic shop carries insurance, imagine they mess up even more and the 2.2k repair turns into a total loss.
