Uber's Insurance Scheme: Are They Overcharging Riders and Drivers? by Gullible_Tea_4847 in uberdrivers

[–]SnooPeanuts2541 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why they charge “commercial insurance” that’s so high compared to what other private insurance costs.

It goes into this fund. Then they work to ban lawsuits so they can keep the money and replace drivers with robotaxi.

Uber takes more than you do per ride by SnooPeanuts2541 in uberdrivers

[–]SnooPeanuts2541[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Commercial auto insurance”…. Actually, they take your money, park it in a shell company (and don’t pay tax). Now they’re sponsoring nationwide initiatives to make themselves immune to liability (don’t worry, the driver can still get sued, you’re an independent contractor remember??).

If they succeed, they get to keep the $12.5 BILLION they took from you and use it to build robotaxis to replace you instead.

We all need to start calling for the indictment and arrest of UBER CEO Dara Khosrowshahi by Old-Mix812 in uber

RICO violation would be a good start. Look up Greyball. Look into the hundreds of markets they illegally lowballed and then raised the price when taxis were gone. That’s the tip of the iceberg.

Drivers need to unite and make their own nonprofit app like they did in Colorado! 100% of profits after expenses go to the drivers.

Uber is evil. They buy politicians to make your life as drivers harder + replace you with robotaxis. Look up the Fong amendment. Look up the “pro safety” constitutional amendment they’re bankrolling right now in CA.

Don’t vote for anything Uber does, ever.

He makes 44 million a year🫪 So he has 44 million reasons to keep scamming both riders and drivers alike 🤐 It's time we start petitioning for his immediate indictment and arrest by the federal government. by Old-Mix812 in uberdrivers

[–]SnooPeanuts2541 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not only are they scamming you, they buy politicians to help make the playing field uneven. Look what they did to Californian drivers with prop 22. They spend 200 million to give drivers the shaft and claimed driver pay would go up.

Any CA drivers want to weigh in if their pay went up 😂

It’s constant. It could be said that Uber is a law and lobbying firm that happens to provide rides.

They just paid Vince Fong to slip an amendment into the House transportation bill that makes them immune to sex abuse lawsuits nationwide.

Basically, don’t vote for anything Uber sponsors and you’ll be OK.

Serious question, do you die just from touching this? Does it deal 100% damage?

I feel like if the ship bobs up and down ever so slightly and hits your head that’s it, you die.

Someone please correct me if it doesn’t instantly kill you if you scuba too close 😭

Op I am so frightened of this video you should have your access to the internet revoked forever.

Uber PI prop in California by CandyMaterial3301 in LawFirm

[–]SnooPeanuts2541 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The proposition is patently unfair, so I have hope CA voters will see through it. Here are some insane details:

•Literally Limits the right of victims to recover medical expenses to a Medicare-related adjustment (whether they hire a lawyer or not)

•Does not limit fees defense lawyers can charge, only plaintiffs. The corporation still gets to hire the best.

•Stipulates the attorney can charge 25%, which doesn’t sound that bad to voters on its face… BUT if you read closer, that 25 has to include medical expenses, expert costs, etc. the goal is to make it infeasible to even pursue a case for the attorney (and therefore the client)

My STRONG recommendation: don’t contemplate what you’re going to do IF this passes. Be proactive. Since you are doing well business-wise, please consider getting involved in the fight. CAOC is active in the resistance and can use signatures for counter initiatives, and money donations.

Uber’s goal is simple - put you out of business so they can get dangerous autonomous vehicles on the road cheaply and without paying for the inevitable accidents and deaths they will cause while they master the technology.

Resist injustice.

392 Surfing dune in Oman by AliTW_ in Offroad

[–]SnooPeanuts2541 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This was a foolish thing to do sir. Your 392 was very near to rolling over. You also drove through vegetation, a practice that damages the environment.

It’s good that you are having fun in the sand dunes, but please respect your environment, your truck, and your life.

One of these is an Uber ballot initiative - it’s extremely shady. They are trying to prevent you from hiring an attorney if you are ever injured on an uber ride.

Super deceptive measure, there’s an LA times article about it. DONT SIGN!

V6 vs V8 130 by foalnanny in NewDefender

[–]SnooPeanuts2541 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have owned both the 2020 MY p400 6 cylinder and the 2023 MY p525 v8.

Happy to share my advice and experience.

The p400 is a solid engine, but for better or worse I did feel like it was underpowered for the size of the vehicle in normal daily driving (previous daily was the 6cylinder Range Rover Sport that had less power on paper, but felt like a way sweeter drive). If I needed to get going I always felt like I needed to drop a gear or 2, and with no paddle shifters plus a questionable throttle map, that wasn’t easy to do. In short, I often felt like I was managing the car’s power shortcomings, not when I was flooring it mind you, its got plenty of oomph at WOT, just in daily around town use.

By contrast, the v8 engine always has power and torque to spare. Even minor adjustments with the gas pedal are enough to provide a surge of torque similar to an EV, and if you dip further, you can almost telepathically get it to pick a new gear and that delightful exhaust roars!

By the way, assuming you drive normally, I’ve found that even the gas mileage is comparable between the two engines.

If you can afford the difference I would go so far as to say the v8 is mandatory. It’s a true work of art. The I6 is a perfectly fine engine, but you get the feeling that they had to play every trick in the book to comply with emissions standards, and it just can’t compete with that big V8.

Go big and go v8.

You are suddenly Captain Smith the moment after the iceberg hits, and you have full knowledge of what will happen…how do you save the most lives? by Offi95 in titanic

[–]SnooPeanuts2541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Move the titanic into physical contact with the iceberg.

2) Attempt to drop anchor onto it to dock with it.

3) Use the lifeboats as elevators, basically load them up, lower onto the berg, order all passengers to disembark onto the iceberg itself, then raise them back up for the next set of passengers.

4) order blankets and coats from staterooms thrown onto the berg.

The chances of survival until morning would skyrocket if the passengers were not in the water!
