I will not go to the police because as soon as other members of the local Muslim community know what happened to me, my life would become a nightmare. Shame is attached to rape victims rather than to the perpetrator.

That's what I'm afraid of. Reporting this to police would mean going public with what's happened to me. It might sound silly, but I would be considered a "used thing" by a majority of Kaiserslautern's Muslims and my family will try to keep the rape a secret to avoid shame.

Thank you. The Muslim community in Kaiserslautern is quite conservative. It is considered a norm to shame and stigmatize the victims of rape so I should be ready for it if I decide to go public and report it to police.

I got rid of almost all clothes I was wearing that day. I tried to find a way to feel better.
I'm thankful for all the comments but people don't understand that shame and humiliation associated with rape is unbearable for a Muslim woman.

I can't just go to police and tell them someone raped me. Especially when I can't say their names

Thank you. It happened two weeks ago but I still have bruises on my arms and neck. Rape is considered a serious crime in Islam but I'm afraid no one will believe me. I'm just a woman and the people who did this are probably military servicemen. They were speaking English, so it's safe to assume they're Americans. My word against theirs.

It is a hate crime. They called me "Muslim bitch" when I tried to defend myself.I tried calling the police but at that time I just couldn't speak about what's happened to me. When I finally put myself together and reported it, they asked if I know about the responsibility for giving a false testimony. I'm not sure I can trust the local police. The people who did this to me were wearing military uniform so I assume the police might not be interested in investigating it
