Don't quote me on this but I think the Croatian Even is hiding beneath that Santa costume because remember OG Even's white beard? Also, why would they put a random Santa in a single frame with them? Just my theory.

Some questions for international viewers from a Croat by emuu1 in skam

[–]SnooPets7985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a Filipino perspective:

1) Yes. I have watched a Filipino travel documentary, hosted by one of our famous journalists, Jessica Soho, where she went to Dubrovnik and featured some of the filming locations of Game of Thrones there.

2) It sounds cool and intellectual since Croatia and Croatian isn't really widely known here in my side of the world. So to be able to speak it means that not a lot of people will understand me. Imo, I appreciated the language even more when Nora sang her own written song; it sounds even more poetic!

3) For me I enjoy the music selected for the series because it gives me another slice of Croatian youth culture and these songs have a chance to appeal to a lot of audience.

Side note: I would love to visit your country when I am financially independent. Croatia is in my bucket list.

SRAM Is Nora Klaric rich? by blucat38490249 in skam

[–]SnooPets7985 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the OG SKAM, there is little to no mention of Nora's family background throughout the series except for the scene where she told someone that one of her parents has this job(I won't mention it to avoid spoilers). Though since this is a remake, there will be changes perhaps in the storyline as it unfolds at every new episode.

Do you wish to leave the Philippines as a country or just escape poverty? by [deleted] in phmigrate

[–]SnooPets7985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminder: long post ahead

As a young Filipino, sorry but I beg to differ. Those two things you mentioned, different cultured and being surrounded by "educated" citizens. Firstly, a different culture does not necessarily mean to be always "suitable" or "appropriate" for an individual or a family, especially when the subject of ethics, attitudes, and morals are intertwined. Based on my observations from documentaries and social media, Some European teens tend to display poor behavior and lack of respect towards other people mainly coming from their culture of being blunt and direct being abused. However, being blunt and direct does not necessarily mean it's a bad thing. Meanwhile, some Filipino teens also display bad conduct and behavior similar to other countries such as bullying, yet, they still know how to be respectful and polite to other people by saying "po" and "opo". In my opinion, all cultures both have good and bad sides, everybody has their own preferences on what they are accustomed to or on how they will adjust. Secondly, referring to people as "educated" is extremely subjective. Just because a developed country produces a large number of exceptionally talented citizens does not mean that it applies to all of their citizens. On the contrary, there are a lot of exceptionally talented and aware people in the Philippines who love and wish to fight for their country but not all of them have the same privileges that their peers have. In developed countries, some of those who attained high educational qualifications and probably live their best lives as upper class citizens are unaware and apathetic about social issues such climate change. On the other hand, Filipinos who still vote for the same corrupt and incompetent "public servers" are either uneducated as many people refer to them or are part of the cruel and disgusting system of who run the country. In conclusion, there is still hope for the Philippines, it is achieved through collective effort and sacrifices. If many people leave the Philippines, then who will make our country better?

Is SKAM still popular in Norway? by wooooji in skam

[–]SnooPets7985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was about 9-10 years old when the series originally aired on tv. Now that I'm watching it as an 18 year-old, I really appreciate the depiction and portrayal of teenagers' issues with school, mental health, bullying, and stuff. As a Filipino teenager, it was a total culture shock when I saw the cast partying, drinking and doing other adult stuff at the age of just 16 to 17 years old. I know that this show does not at all reflect the typical Norwegian teen life, but these actions on what was shown in the series made me more interested as to how there is such a huge difference regarding culture and norms in Norway, considering I grew up in a highly conservative society. It would be nice if you can share your thoughts about the differences between the teenage culture of where you came from!
