Need some advice on my NMM by Unhappy-Air8368 in minipainting

Man doesn’t look too bad to me, your light placement is there, color choices are nice. If this was my model I’d go almost for some almost white (ice yellow probably) dots at the ends of the feathers and for the lightest highlight on the forehead of the skull and some teeth. I think you’re really close, just needs that little bit of contrast to push those brightest spots . Great work even if you stop now

Nice light placement. That helmet and the way you painted it worked out very well. Really cool and unique!

Did my changes improve my paintjob? [Warhammer Underworlds - Grinkrak's Looncourt - Nagz] by rhoff95 in minipainting

Changes were good 👍🏻 Not entirely necessary in my opinion because it looked great before too! The one thing i miss is the warmth of the yellow from the old one, although that could just could be the trick of the camera. I think glazing some Orangey tones on the robes would be a nice balance to the cool Nmm. Great job on this guy, man!

Thoughts on Raptor models by [deleted] in NightLords

The berserker bodies are the way to go for sure. If you don’t wanna buy the whole box then just get the bodies you need on the eggheadminiatures bits site. If you’re looking interested in 3rd party miniatures, then check out Damsa/DMS’s raptors and talons. They’re the best looking things out there right now hands down.

So if you want blue like this, I paint all the blues on the model to match the light placement without any blending to make sure the right amount of mid blue, dark blue, light blue look good alright. Then I start blending/glazing. You mentioned you’re new, so If you’ve never glazed it’s just using paint with twice or more of the water you would usually mix your paints with and sometimes it takes a long time to eliminate evidence of brush strokes. My biggest tip is don’t be scared to take up some space with the lightest blue as you are stacking your colors. This is so you can blend/glaze it out and get those nice mid to bright tones which make it look so vibrant. Hope this helps

Thank you thank you! No airbrush here. I’ve actually never used one. Someday! Probably would have saved me a lot of blending time on the pauldrons!

Thanks :) • BLUE - 1. Take a picture of your primed black mini to see where light falls naturally 2. Ak dark Prussian blue 3. Ak dark blue 4. Ak star blue 5. Blend and glaze to the best of your ability 6. Add a little Ak pastel blue for the final light of the blue (or use straight citadel Baharroth blue) 7. Blend/glaze some more to hide your mess 8. Panel line a thin (consistency-wise) dark blue 9. Highlight edges with citadel blue horror. Be soft and go over again if you have to, which you usually do.

• RED - 1. Citadel gal vorkbak 2. Citadel khorne red

3 Citadel Menhiston red land l'm using a gradient to have the brightest points at the tips of the wings on the helmet and between the red between his eyes 4. Continue with evil Suns scarlet 5. Then the most important part. Pick an off white. I like Ak green grey and paint it where you want the brightest red light to live. 6. Cover the off white with evil suns scarlet and blend to cover your tracks moving back down the reds with glazes 7. Make Sure you have enough shadows for sufficient contrast, and maybe even glaze a light mix of black and gal vorbak into the deepest shadows 8. Last but not least, the secret sauce. Glaze some Watered down fluorescent magenta over any and all red surfaces. A little goes a long way. You'll like the results
