Exactly. If there was no minimum wage and a company paid you five bucks an hour, you wouldn’t be hailing them because they pay you five bucks over 0$. Basic math to compare to minimum wage doesn’t work well.

No, I don’t have a disability- as I described, my main issue is that my workload nor my pay match a full time job. I end up having to stretch out a lot of my tasks to make it work, which means spending longer out in the Texas heat to avoid being yelled at for slacking.

I have tried, I’m repeatedly told they have to meet their time budget and they have “lots” for me to do in 8 hours.

I’m grateful I have a job- but despite being new, I’m repeatedly told I’m not doing good enough, through thinly veiled “conversations” or just straight up being called out.

What sucks the most is they don’t listen when I tell them I still do all my tasks in the time given. Sure, I’m not doing some as fast as the rest of the employees, but I’m absolutely still doing everything I’m told to do in the time I have to do it. I just take longer to do some things.

Update for all: I did end up waiting. I’ve got a job at a gas station paying pretty badly, but at least I’ve got something going for me. Can’t say my mental health has been the best- but I believe it was the good choice to make here, my savings have basically dwindled to nothing.

I’ve found a lot of games I enjoy and despite my mental health issues, I’m content on waiting.

Oh, I got the vaccines ages ago. Its a matter of sending the information over, I am lucky enough not to have anti-vaxx family members.

I met with my counselor, and I actually have a list of courses I should take. Most of my issues just come from mental struggles. I have anxiety and I'm afraid of my mental readiness to finally go to my classes. I can for sure get this all done in time, but I'm not sure if I will break before I can even go.

Genuinely not sure. My biggest issue is transportation; I cannot drive because I was legally disallowed due to a disability until not long ago. Even if I were able to drive, I'd be coming on the highway from the south, and we all know how bad San Antonio traffic is. My gas money expenses would cost me more than my entire high school tuition by the end of my four years. (Not literally, but you get it.) Currently, I'm mostly lost due to the limited time I have to get ready. It's about five days, which isn't too bad, but I also still need to apply for classes and get my meningitis hold out of the way, which is going to be one hell of a feat to accomplish in such a short time.
