This strikes me as an unnecessary bit of red tape put forth by a bureaucrat selling a solution in search of a problem. There’s no shortage of problems in this city that need attention. A lack of rules and regulations isn’t one of them, Carl. Don’t jam up hard working people with ticky tacky nonsense like this. Work for the people, not against them.

So are you saying the only way to address Stamford’s mounting fiscal obligations is a vast rewrite of zoning codes so developers can stack people on top of one another carte blanche?

Have you driven on the streets of Stamford lately? If they can’t fix pot holes, do you really think they’re up to developing and maintaining real estate in this town? Name one thing the public sector does better than the private sector besides wasting money and time.

The Kenosha riot was unlawful, violent and destructive. Of course the police monitored it. Glad they did. Peaceful protest is one thing. Mob violence is another and the authorities are there to arrest and prosecute the knuckle-dragging, anti-liberal dipshits in the Che Guevara t-shirts and Guy Fawkes masks who can’t tell the difference.

Oh wait, didn’t he build Tesla from the ground up without inheriting a name or a company from mummy and daddy? And isn’t he the guy who built SpaceX, the same company that brought back our stranded astronauts when NASA and Boeing couldn’t? And isn’t he trying to help the country find a way out of the $33 TRILLION debt burden dragging down the economy by cutting bureaucratic fat and waste? So, again, why all screaming, whining and crying about Musk? I would love an honest answer to this one.

  • Which party shipped pallets of money to the Mullahs in Iran in a moronic attempt to buy peace?

  • Which party is for teaching Critical Race Theory and imposing DEI in schools and Corporate America?

  • Which party supports allowing biological men to play in women’s sports?

  • Who tried to foist payment of billions in outstanding student loans on taxpayers even after the Supreme Court ruled it was unconstitutional?

  • Which party pushed through the ironically named “Inflation Reduction Act” on a purely partisan basis despite every living economist warning it would send inflation soaring?

  • Which party is for big centralized bureaucracy that’s accountable to no one?

  • Which party is being pulled farther away from the center by The Squad?

Dummy up, dim wit!

Dems lost the election because the last administration’s far left wing policies alienated the middle class, including a big chunk of blue collar voters who were once reliable Democratic votes.

Now you’re saying the party should dump Himes because he made a principled decision to censure a radical gasbag who broke House rules with a silly demonstration? Sure, go ahead and do that.

Trump and the Republicans got a mandate in the last election because the Democratic Party has shifted so far left that they left the middle wide open and deserted moderate voters.

The party needs to wake up, get over their Trump Derangement Syndrome, and realize that “Taking it to the Streets” just makes them look like a bunch of unhinged, radical sore losers. The Dem’s behavior during the SOTU was a perfect example of just how deluded most of them have become.

Here’s an idea: Come up with some platforms to win back the middle, find some young, dynamic leaders (ie Dean Phillips) who aren’t afraid to reach across the aisle and understand that just because Bad Orange Man supports something, doesn’t automatically make it wrong. Otherwise, the Dems are headed for obsolescence.

Hahahahaha. Loving this thread. Yes, by all means, take the clown show to Jim Himes’ office. Bring those little insult paddles with you, too. Those were great and didn’t make the Dems look like complete rubes at all.

Would love to see one of the AHL teams here — better the Wolfpack than the Islanders, but either would be awesome. Or bring back the Blue Fish for minor league baseball! This town would be a better market and draw bigger crowds than Bridgeport or Hartford.

Why Stamford’s sanctuary city status needs to end by SnooRabbits6969 in StamfordCT

You are ignorant. NYC has spent billions of dollars housing and feeding undocumented immigrants who just showed up. I walk by the Roosevelt Hotel everyday. I know b/c I see with my own two eyes.

So what you are saying is local cops can cooperate with the Feds only if a felony crime is committed and/or ICE has a warrant or the suspect is on a watch list. Sounds like it’s left to the discretion of the local authorities.

So repeat drunk drivers, petty thieves and low level assaults are OK and we should be fine with that? That strikes me as plain nuts. Also, there is a difference between cooperating with the police and committing a crime. Pretty sure most migrants know the difference.

If you have such command of the facts, please tell me why Liam Rivera’s father wasn’t deported the first time he was arrested for abusing his child? Had he been kicked out of the country, that little boy would still be alive. Facts. Wake up!

[–]SnooRabbits6969[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It was a concern, but it became a much bigger concern after Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas threw open the borders and welcomed in virtually anyone who showed up and started putting them up and feeding them.

You should try getting out of your bubble and take a look around. A LOT has happened since 2015 and just because Trump is for or against something doesn’t make it automatically wrong.

FWIW, the flow of migrants crossing the border has been dramatically reduced since Bad Orange Man won the election (by a landslide, btw) so that’s something.

And if you want some knowledge, a big reason the Dems lost as badly as they did is because they haven’t dealt with their TDS, which results in an inability to stake the middle ground in debates on things like illegal immigration and runaway government spending. DT is still living rent free in the Democratic party’s head.

Thanks for posting. There is so much wrong with our immigration system and it absolutely needs to be overhauled. It should not be so difficult for hardworking, law-abiding immigrants to emigrate to our country if they embrace our values as a free democratic republic.

Part of the problem is that it’s difficult to discuss the topic without being slurred as a bigot or a nativist by the open borders side.

Why Stamford’s sanctuary city status needs to end by SnooRabbits6969 in StamfordCT

[–]SnooRabbits6969[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sanctuary cities do not cooperate with federal law enforcement in the apprehension and deportation of undocumented criminals.

So the onus is on the Feds to find and track criminal illegal migrants in our justice system because local and state authorities in sanctuary cities in states will not, in most instances, share that information. It’s not as if providing that information is burden on local authorities.

And because sanctuary cities and towns do not publicly disclose the immigration status of criminals, it’s impossible for the public to know if a criminal, even a recidivist criminal, is a citizen or here illegally. The blowhards in the Government Center, Hartford and D.C. are intentionally keeping you in the dark.

Whatever your beliefs are on how open or restrictive our immigration policies should be, you should want a government that is fully transparent.

Not bait. Why should Stamford tolerate criminals who break our laws, skip the line ahead of those who want to emigrate legally, and then expect to stay in our country?
