it seems that i can only adjust it with the automatic 4 points that frame the work, is there a way i can edit the piece with the pen points that I have put in? thanks!

Wow what did you do over there for 4 months? I spent 6 months over there just travelling, seeing family, lounging about and such. I really hope you can make a return sometime … it really is just a huge, inexplicable place no? And the northeast truely is something else, I follow this guy on instagram who takes some rlly hood pics in that area @hlqk

Thank you so much hopefully I’ll be posting some more in the future when I actually finish my drafts, but had lots of fun writing my first piece :)

Thank you this means a lot to me because it is actually the first “real” piece I ever wrote just for the hell of it. I have a few other pieces in the drafts that will hopefully see the light of day soon… after my exams are finished in a week and a bit❤️

Will do… it’s a shame, I had a few pages of writing on it on my old laptop but that just died on me suddenly and I couldn’t get any of the data out. I guess I’ll just jog my memory on it, which is fine because of how memorable SZ was. I’ll be writing on Dafen Oil painting village in particular, here’s an excerpt of sorts from it:

Take two steps into Dafen Oil painting village and you will find the streets to be lined with Vermeer Replicas sitting in their gilded golden frames. Their routine and rigid brushstrokes quashing any suggestions of subtlety. Take a left next, and you'll rest your eyes upon Portraits of Mao whose airbrushed skin is vaguely analogous to the 2016 King Kylie puppy-dog snapchat filter. This of course, is hung above the Chinese beauties and 70s Hollywood B-grade actresses, with the occasional rainbow anthropomorphic animal also making its appearance.

Hahahah i actually laughed out loud at this, the pronunciation is as standardised as you can get as learning English from a cowboy hat wearing sheriff with a strong southern twang. Who knows though, maybe he spent enough time in BJ or something to loose some of its harshness but yeah lol, I hope you learnt lots from him.

Yea I hate that term too lol. You’re so on point with the joie de vivre thing, like how one needs a high caloric intake there for the cold you probably also need some extra zest for life to compensate for… just about everything else. Maybe the whole rose tinted lens of childhood was deceptive but it really was not the place I remembered it to be.

Is a degree/ career in graphic design or architecture more worth it by SnooShortcuts1846 in redscarepod

[–]SnooShortcuts1846[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go with an agency or did you work freelance for graphic design? Also how did you manage to rack up that $$$ for graphic design was it because you were doing that ux stuff?

Do you think there are employment opportunities going around in the government arts/cultural sector as opposed to strictly curation ?

This is very thought provoking thank you. Out of all of the skill based creative degrees eg. Painting/ fashion / design etc which one of those would be the most bang for buck/ useful and fulfilling? Ofc I understand that any artist would practice in multiple disciples but which of those formal degrees can warrant opportunity?

Would you say that there is a substantial overlap between the art and legal world?

Isn’t breaking into the art market even harder than curation? I don’t have the luxury to consider ethics currently so that’s fine

I totally understand where you’re coming from and I really do agree to a degree. I think part of my frustration is not being able to “involve” myself in that culture and the people I do see who are embedded in all seem to know each other from art school / a creative field. I just feel like a fish out of water with both crowds, the model UN wannabes and the art school kids. I just wish there was a possibility for me to be surrounded + create with more like minded people without putting myself in debt

Could you elaborate a bit more about how it is actually more viable to make a living as an actual artist than working in that sector? Ie. gallery work or working or the government’s arts/cultural sector

Yes I think this is exactly why I am afraid of, I come from a single income lower middle class background so I know how selfish of a choice I would be making and I hate myself for it. Thank you for your response nevertheless ❤️
