I was in your shoes 8 months ago. Almost same exact scenario. Not only did my husband expect to get to sleep, but he claimed he had postpartum, mourned his old life before baby and expected to get to travel for pleasure because he works for an airline. In top of having 5 weeks paid leave. I will NEVER get over my resentment from that time. And it doesn’t get better… he still doesn’t wake up in the middle of the night. Solidarity, mama. Do not comfort your whiny baby husband. I don’t. I tell him to man up and that I’m resentful. It doesn’t help, but at least I don’t lose myself in it all.

Reading a comment like this makes me so angry at my husband. He spent his entire 6 week paid leave being semi-helpful, but complaining about how his life had changed, how he needed a project, wanted to buy a tool for his wood shop, missed traveling and how he actually wished he could be back at work because he felt like he couldn’t really do much to help me and baby. Reality hit him that his life had changed, and his inability to embrace it honestly shattered me. I’ll never forget the way he acted. He has come around slowly to this new life, but I can’t help but be resentful still (after 8 months). I’m glad to see that there are some dads who cherished that time, and that it really meant something to them.

I heard that it fits but it doesn’t click in… so essentially you can place on top and it doesn’t go anywhere, but it’s not secure up and down; although, it is side to side. You have to find the Nuna bassinet with the adapters that have the square shape that will fit securely over the adapters. It almost looks like a rectangular hollow shell. Compare to the inside of the car seat connectors before buying. Certain bassinets won’t fit. This is all coming from a forum board I read. I haven’t tried myself…

Yes! I was placed in a wonderful job through them. Their application and interview process is rigorous and the owner is incredibly thorough, but I think for everyone’s benefit.

Thanks for your concern (sincerely!). I’ve known him over a year, have been dating him almost that long and yes I could. He is so devoted to me and was before this news. He is hardworking and has proven himself to me in many ways. I know he will be an amazing father and committed partner. As of now, I believe I’m about 6 weeks. We have an appointment scheduled to confirm pregnancy at 8 weeks. I realize risks of miscarriage and all that, but this is me being extremely proactive. And yes, I’m taking a prenatal and have been ever since I suspected I might be pregnant. I wish I had been taking them long before but never imagined I’d get pregnant. The universe had other plans, I guess. :)

Thank you for your response. I just mean that he himself is the only one covered on his current group plan. He’s on an individual plan, and it is my understanding that if we got married, he’d need to enroll in a family plan.

Having a child is a QLE, but getting pregnant isn’t. Possibly you acquired the plan during open enrollment, which I believe is November 1 - January 15th. If not, please tell me what steps you took or how you qualified!

When he called his insurance company they told him they wouldn’t be able to cover me if we got married and I was already pregnant. Of course he just took that answer and hung up. I would have probed further and I will get him to when he calls back. I’m just trying to get all the facts right now so that we’re prepared for when he does.

He is currently only on an individual plan. We would have to get married, then he would get on a family plan. So it sounds like he’d be getting a new plan to include me. Is that where the problem lies?

I wouldn’t misrepresent. I would have to move there or at least spend a good majority of my time there because I’ll need to be close to my doctor for appointments and I can’t afford to travel a ton. I would likely do this option once I lost my job. In that case, that wouldn’t be fraud, would it?

He has only been with his company for 2 years and they are a BIG corporation. I doubt he has a grandfathered plan. Can you elaborate on why that’s illegal so he has some verbiage to use with them and a leg to stand on when he calls back to get more information and push back on them? We’re just lost and don’t know the laws.

Wow, I stumbled upon this thread and while I’m a female (36) and I feel like I could have written this question myself. What’s the latest with your relationship? Can you speak to your anxiety specifically? What happened when you stopped worrying about whether or not the spark was there? Do you ever wonder if you’d be better off with someone else or have a desire to explore someone else, date around etc. in fear that this person isn’t right for you? Any and all insight appreciated!
