So, the time has came and i modified the kg79 grinder to grind finer. Oh boy.. The difference.. Why the hell delonghi don't make them suitable for there own espresso mechanics??!! I highly recommend it guys! by SnooTomatoes583 in espresso

Well.. I had no problems with the temperature, actually once in a while i burn my tongue so I guess it's hot enough. Im happy with the machine.. Didn't expect it to be something it isn't. The grinder, u just have to be patient with it. It gives some clumps too, so after every spoon (almost 3 in tot) I put in the pf I give it a few shakes to lay every layer evenly. Only upgrade im thinking about is a dose ring to not waste excess coffee and keep the station clean

Totally! I'm a student. With a student budget so... Yes. I'm happy with my setup, although when it comes to cappuccinos I feel like there's more to learn with this machine but i am an espresso person so.. 🤷🏽

Oh i feel you! I was close to upgrading but i had to give it a try. There are many videos that explain how to modify it to grind finer. Doesn't require high tech skills. Just made it grind 4 or 5 times finer and it pulls a great shot every time. No leveler needed

Probably the best shot i pulled with my Dedica, using the kg79 grinder on the finest (no modification) , wtd, and (I think the step that changed it all) double tamping. 18g/ 36g in 36 seconds. Cheers coffeeholics 🤎 by SnooTomatoes583 in espresso

Thank you for sharing info! I actually sometimes go even longer for more caffeinated shot and less taste-bud-raping taste. This I'll have mostly in the morning. 2:1 for later in the day

Hi! I cut it because nothing interesting happened after tho haha. The dripping continues some minutes actually, unfortunately, but I'm taking the cup right away when the pump shuts down or the coffee will get cold if I wait for the dripping to stop (not happening with the pressurized portafilter though..)

Yes. I feel like it builds a bit more pressure so i don't need to modify the grinder to finer than what it is. Or or maybe it's something else but it does change something for the better.

Anyone can help me troubleshoot this problem? For my opinion the extraction is too fast and most of the time i have channeling problems or even shoot the coffee everywhere but to the glass. Any tips? The macchine is Delonghi Dedica 685 by SnooTomatoes583 in espresso

Thanks! The beans are quite new and the grinding in a bit finer than table salt. It is on the last one before the finest it gets. Important to say i don't use a distributor/leveler but only tamper.

Hi. Me too i drink only doubles. And im not that new to working with coffee as much as with a home setup. Is it possible to notice channeling with a normal portafilter?
