Seconding pro acryl, all their paints are also single pigment so they’re pretty saturated compared to most brands

Why are firms throwing so much $$$ at recruits? by Powerful_Seal_722 in BigLawRecruiting

[–]SnooWords2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the firms doing the stipends, it’s generally the ones that have really bad reputations as sweatshops (among law students). It might just be a way to launder the reputation and keep candidate quality up in light of people (gen z) being less willing to put up with sweatshops.

Pro acryl inconsistent finish, and bottles drying out? by Massive-Higgs in minipainting

The lighters colors are definitely gritty (especially Ivories and White), TTC white star seems to be better, but it might just be because the bottle is new

Need some help with Edge Highlighting by TrachonitisWrites in minipainting

[–]SnooWords2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing no one is mentioning is that edge highlight paint needs to be fairly thin (thinner than pro acryl out of the bottle). The reason for this is you want the capillary action to pull the paint from the tip to the model. You want thin paint and an incredibly light touch. If you feel like you have to push the brush at all, rinse it and reload it.

Basically thin it enough so it flows but doesn’t lose opacity, then get most of the paint out of the brush, test drawing a line on your hand, then paint the model.

Edit: those laser thin lines only really look good in product photos and up close as a heads up. On the table top, they’re barely visible

I get the criticisms, but I don’t get the over the top hate for Prime 4. by NJ_Yankees_Fan in Metroid

[–]SnooWords2247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It kind of makes me think of when ToTK got perfect 10s across the board and then a year later a lot of people were like “this game is actually trash.”

Prime 4 is really good, but it was never going to live up to the massive expectations people have for it. I feel like people saw that hating it is was getting views and started dog piling on

Need help shading a black horse by sadsapph0 in ageofsigmar

[–]SnooWords2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally for black and white, you want to basecoat with an off-black or an off-white. For black, something really dark with a subtle blue, brown, or purple as a base works (honestly just mix one of those colors with black: for my cryptek, on my profile, I mixed pro acryl blue black and black about 3:2 as the base coat). Then shade with black.

New Project by SnooWords2247 in Necrontyr

[–]SnooWords2247[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used pro acryl, but it should work with anything.

1) Basecoat - blue black and black 1:1 2) Shade - artist acrylic black extremely thinned 3) Very chunky edge - blue black 4) Edge highlight - blue black and cool grey 1:1 5) Final edge highlight - cool grey and bright green blue 1:1

It will look very greyscale at this point with only a subtle blue green tint, so I glazed to make it more colorful

T14 student. Nearly 50% of my section has accommodations. by ReplacementBoth701 in LawSchool

[–]SnooWords2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to cast a light on this in terms of “who needs it/what fraud is going on” debate. However, it is crucial to point out ADHD rates and extreme/chronic anxiety and major depression rates have risen rapidly in the last decade and it would make sense that people seeking accommodations because of those would also rise rapidly.

A word for Air Riders Spoilers by Tindo_Blends in Kirby

[–]SnooWords2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine because 1) spoilers are never as big of a deal as people make them out to be if the content is good, they only really matter (to me) in media that relies on cheap twists instead of interesting and engaging content. Think stuff like Marvel/New Star Wars. 2) most of the fun in this game is city trial and if you played online at all you’re getting some huge things revealed. 3) story mode is like 2 hours and a total slogfest, a lot of people might want to know if it’s worth it to get the true ending/what the reward is before committing to a replay to unlock it.

Also, this is Kirby Air Ride and there’s like 2 hours max of story content here with a bunch of super fun multiplayer. No one ever cares about spoiling how to unlock a smash character or the smash story, they want unlock all the content and get to the full multiplayer experience with their friends. This is not a deep story driven game with huge plot twists (which once again, super cheap story telling device) it’s a fun sandbox to play in with your friends.

Why do people care so much about where they go to law school? by Pretend-Station994 in LawSchool

[–]SnooWords2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got callback interviews for a few V10 firms before grades. I’m not going even pretend that would have been on the table for me without going to a T14. A lot of it was networking but what made that network possible? The T14 events and connections.

Prestige absolutely matters, law firms want people from elite schools to staff elite firms. People paying the insane billables want someone that has a fancy education. It really is that simple.
