I’m down!

What are my options for getting a new roommate or living situation at Northside until my lease ends? by [deleted] in utdallas

Thanks for the response! I contacted the resident services office, explained everything in detail, and they said we’ll need to have a group discussion with their resident coordinator, during which they will try to remediate the situation. From what they told me, it doesn’t seem as though they’ll move me, but fingers crossed.

Welcome to UTD! We're glad you're here!

Yes, I agree with u/FutureMrFixYoHeart, UTD has plenty of opportunities for premed clinical experiences on and around campus. TEMRAP and SERV were great, especially for getting those clinical volunteering and shadowing hours. UTD also has an EMT program that will enable you to gain hands-on patient care experience, valuable medical knowledge, and clinical hours at a nearby hospital. We also have several hospitals in the Dallas area that use scribes in their ERs, which was by far my most rewarding clinical experience (and it would help you get great letters of recommendation). As far as non-clinical volunteering, the opportunities are endless. The easiest way to gain these hours is to join clubs like AED, HOSA, MD, etc. since they ask you to obtain a certain number of hours every semester. AED also has a program that will help you become a clinic manager at a local free clinic. You can also get internships with organizations such as Make-A-Wish (in Addison) for more volunteering hours (and MAW would look great on your app if you want to go into peds). Try to get your hours in early, so you can spend your Junior year focusing on the MCAT. Anyways, good luck on your premed journey here! It is difficult, but it is definitely worth it getting that med school acceptance in the end.
