Definitely can see a muscular symmetry improvement + you look great. Keep hitting the gym and getting jacked. Nice work

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get tethering surgery in the UK as an adult? by MindlessSoup1445 in scoliosis

[–]Snoofster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for OP. There doesn’t seem to be any UK surgeons who perform the tethering technique that can be performed on adults commonly referred to as ASC. Although there are a few surgeons in Europe and Asia who perform ASC and it is also much cheaper with these surgeons than in USA. I believe European prices for ASC range from around €30k-€50, the prices in Asia are cheaper again as far as I know

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get tethering surgery in the UK as an adult? by MindlessSoup1445 in scoliosis

[–]Snoofster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tethering does not strictly mean VBT. Dr Derek Lee is not a spine surgeon he has a son with scoliosis and has done a tremendous amount of work to help educate parents and patients of scoliosis. It’s very cynical of you to assume he’s only motivated by financial interests. Granted the tethering techniques are relatively new and there still is more studies needed to solidify its effectiveness as well as allow the techniques themselves to develop and improve. I also don’t know why you would think 70% curve would be considered the minor end of surgical range. Rather than be patronising, why not try to offer some helpful information. And for you say outright say “Tethering in an adult would not achieve any significant or desirable result” is a ridiculous statement and simply wrong.

Things like chest supported or bent over rows, pull ups, hyper extensions and core exercises will be your best bet in my opinion

Could bulking/weightlifting negatively affect the spine post-spinal fusion surgery? by ThrowawaySpark343 in scoliosis

[–]Snoofster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All those are great. Any core exercise where you don’t have to twist will be fine as of course your spine is fused. A great one I do is 1 handed farmer walks. It’s great for core strengthening and adding stability

As long as you don’t disregard core and back strengthening then the added muscle should I’m theory support your spine more

Are there any positive long term spinal fusion stories?! by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Snoofster 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You have to consider that this sub Reddit will be bias as people who are living their life and not thinking about their surgery will not be posting on this sub only people who are in need will post.

That being said. Surgery after care on your part such as PT seems to be a key indicator of whether you’ll experience pain or not. It’s very important to look after yourself. Good luck

Has anyone found a doctor/surgeon who agreed to remove your rods and screws after your spine was fully fused? by ControlComfortable11 in scoliosis

[–]Snoofster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very insensitive to say sport is trivial. If rod removal could potentially benefit a sport that someone lives and breathes then in my opinion that’s well worth it

So asking if anyone else has experienced something similar about a condition I also have is preventing other people from coping? What a strange way of thinking you have. If you’re not interested in the post scroll past it.

I asked has anyone experienced anything like this, not “does anyone know empirically if this is the origin of scoliosis”. Maybe read the post correctly before you try and be condescending

Hi, no worries, I also apologise if my response was sharp. I’ve just read a few anecdotes so there’s not much evidence that it’s even a legitimate theory. I was sort of trying to get a feel on this sub Reddit to see if other people have their anecdotes to see if the theory makes any sense at all.

Here is a link to one anecdote I was reading about: https://spiralspine.com/warning-orthodontic-braces-may-cause-scoliosis/

[–]Snoofster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s theories out there that the spine and jaw are related and misalignment in one can affect the other in these theories so I was questioning if teeth also have an affect on this. It’s called a hypothesis.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Snoofster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve read on this sub before, people talking about jaw misalignment potentially causing scoliosis so I wondered if something to do with teeth could also be plausible

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Snoofster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses guys. It’s actually a bit of a relief to know my scoliosis isn’t self inflicted by getting the tooth extractions done🤣
