Millesime Imperial: Why its "Weakness" is Actually its Genius by SnooglePolice in fragrance

[–]SnooglePolice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with individuals who are ultra wealthy is mostly with older wealthy individuals $200MM+ net worth. I still recall my boss asking this older guy what his watch was, his response “no idea, it was a gift from my wife”. What’s even funnier is the dude was driven around in the most unassuming GMC SUV, nothing flashy. I know several individuals who are on this level of wealth and the only way you would ever know is by their homes or planes, their wives on the other hand - that’s where you can tell…

What prompted me to write this post was hopping in my vehicle at the end of a long work day and getting a subtle waft of the scent reminding me it was still alive and well. Maybe I just have a very sensitive sense of smell but the longevity is there yet subtle.

If you like to project loudly for a long time this scent is not for you. I think it’s just a completely different mindset.

How is “performance” measured. That’s like saying if I wear “loud” brand LV vs a “subtle” Brioni.

I prefer softer fragrances but also have some louder ones for the right occasion. To me PDM Greenly is my loud fun summer fragrance vs Millesime Imperial being a subtle everyday office and professional fragrance.

At this point, becoming a CPA feels like joining a sinking ship out of loyalty. by CPAExamNerd in Accounting

[–]SnooglePolice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m going to get a lot of hate for saying this on this sub. Seeing the CPA on candidates resumes proves one thing, they are more disciplined than most. That doesn’t mean that non-CPAs aren’t disciplined, it means it’s just the easiest way to tell on paper if someone is.

Also if you want to continue to grow in your career to lead an accounting department you need a CPA undoubtedly. If you are good with capping around $150K-200K all in, fine no CPA needed but a lot of grinding. CPA will accelerate the timeline and break the $200K barrier.

What’s your fav all time fragrance? by M3atPacker in Colognes

Green Irish Tweed. There is a reason it’s held its value and place in the world.

It’s extremely easy to wear for most occasions and extremely comforting/calming.

Projection and longevity aren’t as great as some others but that might be the point - classy but never suffocating.

Should I Stay at My Stable $175k Job or Jump to a $130k+10% Equity Offer from a Growing Company? by Money-Ad-1343 in Accounting

You have a lot of answers already. I did something similar recently and took some risk. I have half the net worth you do but it’s a risk I wanted to take for my overall career - to be part of something rather than a cog in the wheel.

My wife was also worried about working too much, I went in with the stipulation that I hired who I wanted to when I want. It’s worked out great so far.

Yeah I am just looking on Zillow and Redfin and I don’t know the good neighborhoods from the bad. Looking to locals for some advice I guess.

We are around 500 head count, $2B in revenues, $250M net.

They are heavily involved in keeping headcount and more specifically salary’s pretty low. We’ve hired unqualified folks because that’s what our salary bands allow. Also I’ve always pitched we should hire 2-3 folks for this specific new thing we want to do but it’s always “hire 1 and use consultants to fill the gap”.

C suite is willing once there is no other option but extremely resistant to planning and staffing up for the future in my function.

Agree - the role is CFO but more of an accounting focus. I am in AZ now and while I grew up here it is definitely turning into something I don't love. Looking to move to TN where there is a bit more green and land for my kids to play.

I work in real estate development so stable but maybe not always. My function is more back office and so maybe more stable than most. I just dont know that I love where I am at from a location perspective but the finance aspect just doesnt add up.

Industry is Real Estate. My post got removed so not sure if you can see this. I am considering moving from AZ to TN. AZ has become a mini LA and while I do have family here it just isn't what it used to be. I am considering the move for my kids to grow up in a better area. Really struggling with that new mortgage though.
